Is Ari really dating Ethan Slater? That is indeed the question fans are asking after rumors of a relationship began swirling just days after reports of her split from husband, Dalton Gomez surfaced.

Yep, July 2023 was definitely a rollercoaster for stans of the Thank U Next singer, as not only did we get slapped with the news that Ariana Grande's marriage to Dalton Gomez was reportedly over, but also that she seeing someone new and by someone, we mean her Wicked costar, Ethan.

Naturally, their supposed relationship sent the internet into a spiral but lately, updates on the pair have become few and far between. So what is going on between them now?

Ariana Grande new boyfriend 2023: is she dating Ethan Slater?

So is Ariana Grande actually dating anyone right now? Well, if you've indeed managed to miss all the drama from the past few weeks, allow us to catch you up to speed—Ari is reportedly seeing her Wicked co-star, Ethan Slater.

News of this rumored relationship first broke on Thursday, July 20, 2023, after TMZ claimed that Ari and Ethan started dating whilst filming Wicked and after both of their respective relationships had ended.

Ethan who was married to singer, Lilly Jay for nearly four years and with whom he welcomed a son last year, officially filed for divorce—according to multiple news outlets—on Wednesday, July 26, 2023. It's unclear when they first separated, but when reports of a potential relationship between Ari and Ethan broke, a source told People: "Ariana and Dalton separated in January, she and Ethan recently began dating, and he is separated from his wife."

According to Page Six though, Ethan's wife, Lilly is said to have been 'blindsided' by the news. A source claimed: "It’s horrible. They were high school sweethearts. They have a baby! She’s a wreck." The sources have also alleged that the break up was sudden, "when nothing appeared wrong between them."

Lilly herself then broke her silence on the reports, claiming to Page Six: "My family is just collateral damage," before adding that she's trying to focus on being 'a good mom.'

However, an insider also told the publication that she is, "rightfully upset because her marriage fell apart", but that Ariana and Ethan, "didn’t do anything wrong."

What's going on with Ethan and Ari now?

The last major update fans received on their relationship was on Monday, July 31, with TMZ reporting that Ariana was giving Ethan "space" to work things through with Lilly, with an insider revealing that the pair actually hadn't seen each other in person, for weeks.

As of August 2023, neither Ariana nor Ethan has addressed any of the speculation, though Ari did reveal in an interview with Allure that she's got a new tattoo, to commemorate the filming of Wicked—which is also how she met and seemingly started dating him.

The ink in question is of Glinda, who Ari is portraying in the movie adaptation of the iconic musical.

Detailing her new hand tatt, the singer said: "It's Glinda from the original L. Frank Baum book. I waited forever to fill up this hand. I thought, 'I'm gonna wait for the right thing to come along,' and yeah, that felt very right."

As for how this Ari and Ethan drama began, the news broke after TMZ first revealed that Ariana had 'separated' from Dalton Gomez—after two years of marriage—on Monday, July 17, 2023

An insider said that the couple are "heading for divorce" after having problems for some time now. The source also claimed that they have actually been separated since January 2023 but did try to rekindle things—which could explain Ariana's two-year anniversary tribute to Dalton in May 2023. Alas though, the insider alleges that things are over, though the pair do remain friends.

As mentioned though, Ari is yet to confirm anything romantic going on with co-star, Ethan or even comment on her 'separation' from Dalton split, so we will have to be patient for updates!

What happened between Ariana Grande and Dalton Gomez?

For those who don't know, Ari and Dalton tied the knot back in 2021 and celebrated their two-year anniversary in May 2023.

Alas though, after Ariana was spotted at Wimbledon on Sunday, July 16, minus her wedding ring, break-up chatter quickly started swirling. It was then reported that Dalton and Ariana have indeed now separated—so, what happened between them, exactly?

Well, a source told Entertainment Tonight that they just weren't a 'good fit,' they said: "Ariana and Dalton tried to make things work, but ultimately they were just not a good fit. Dalton has been very private and low-key about their relationship with his work colleagues and hasn’t been talking a lot about their split."

A second insider also added: "Ariana and Dalton’s friends have always been concerned by their whirlwind romance and felt their relationship would ultimately be short-lived. Their relationship has been rocky at different points, and they've had trouble making time for each other with scheduling issues."

Another source reiterated to Page Six that they have been having issues for some time: "They came to the decision together. They were having problems before January, but they want to remain best friends."

So there you have it, while things have remained amicable, it seems things are at an end between Ariana and Dalton.
