Is Kim Cattrall returning to And Just Like That?! Fans have been wondering, "Why is Samantha not in the new Sex and the City reboot?" ever since HBO rebooted the hit series back in December 2021.

Season one proceeded with one of our four core ladies MIA from the usual sexy city shenanigans, as Cattrall had opted out of reprising her famous character of Samantha Jones in the proposed third Sex and the City film and reportedly wasn't approached to return for the reboot series.

“It’s a great wisdom to know when enough is enough,” Cattrall told Variety back in 2022. “I also didn’t want to compromise what the show was to me. The way forward seemed clear.”

However, it looks like the star might just be changing her tune. Here's what we know about that rumored cameo in And Just Like That season 2.

Is Kim Cattrall returning to 'And Just Like That'?

Yes, Kim Cattrall will officially return as Samantha Jones in the upcoming second season of And Just Like That, which premieres on Thursday, June 22, on Max, per a Variety exclusive.

According to the outlet, Cattrall will appear in one single scene, in the season 2 finale episode. Though she didn't feature onscreen in the reboot's first season, Samantha's presence was felt throughout the episodes, in text messages sent between her and Sarah Jessica Parker's Carrie Bradshaw. In the SATC universe, the former BFFs had a major falling out over the PR rep dropping Carrie as a client, with Samantha ending up moving from Manhattan to London following the big friendship break-up

It looks like those text messages will be upgraded to a full-blown phone conversation between the estranged characters in the second season, per Variety. Sources told the magazine that Cattrall filmed dialogue for the series on Wednesday, March 22, in New York City, though she reportedly didn't have any interaction with the rest of the cast, including Parker.

Cattrall isn't the only former Sex and the City star making their grand return in the upcoming second season: John Corbett, who famously played Carrie's ex-fiancé Aidan Shaw and appeared throughout the HBO series as well as the second movie of the SATC film franchise, will be back stirring up memories and feelings for our girl Carrie.

And Just Like That season one is currently available to stream on Max. The second season premieres on June 22.
