The first look of Ryan Gosling as Ken will make you say 'Come on, Barbie let's go party'
The internet—and Eva Mendes—respond to Ryan Gosling as Ken in the live-action 'Barbie' movie
Life in plastic, it's fantastic—especially Ryan Gosling as Ken.
The live-action Barbie movie would be incomplete without our heroine's hunky-hunky right-hand man. Now that Warner Brothers decided to give us a sneak peek at Ken, we're feeling nostalgic for our childhood.
Ryan Gosling as Ken
Ready for the magic? Here is our guy in all of his glory: bleach blonde hair, chiseled abs, sun-kissed skin. A master of dopamine dressing, Ken also decided to put his name on his undies to avoid any potential confusion. We love a man who's prepared!
Posing next to what we believe to be Barbie's dream house, Ken has decided to don an all-denim ensemble, which might inspire a capsule wardrobe update. We particularly love the smirk on his face—it just screams "smooth."
Ken memes and reactions
Naturally, upon this first look, the internet promptly went to work to express its excitement over the obviously perfect casting.

Gosling's partner, Eva Mendes, was particularly excited for her doll's new role. She decided to show some support on Instagram by sharing the pink-toned snap and wrote: "So. F. Funny. So. F. Good. So F excited for you to see this… #thatsmyken"

Although Barbie doesn't hit theaters until summer 2023, the Margot Robbie project won't be a cliché.
"Our goal is to be like, 'Whatever you’re thinking, we’re going to give you something totally different—the thing you didn’t know you wanted," the actor told The Hollywood Reporter in December 2020.
Greta Gerwig and her partner Noah Baumbach have co-written a screenplay, and Robbie will be none other than Barbie herself. Get a load of our girl in her adorable pink convertible!
Though the plot is under wraps, we know that the cast is star-studded and likely to induce plenty of laughs:
- Kate McKinnon
- America Ferrera
- Simu Liu
- Issa Rae
- Will Ferrell
- Rhea Perlman
- Michael Cera
We'll see you July 21, 2023 for Barbie! Meet us at the Malibu beach house and we'll give you a lift to the theater.
