Kristen Stewart as Diana has left social media gobsmacked. On the royal buzz-meter, her role in the Spencer biopic is a close second to Meghan Markle and Prince Harry's Oprah Winfrey interview. As new images of the fall 2021 film make the rounds, Lady Di fans are anxiously scooping up every little detail.
The first clips of Spencer made their debut at CinemaCon in Las Vegas on August 25, 2021. According to Entertainment Weekly (opens in new tab), the teasers focus on a fight between Princess Diana (Stewart) and Prince Charles (Jack Farthing) that unraveled over a billiards table.
Spencer is meant to depict a difficult time for the late Princess of Wales in the early 1990s. It takes place over the course of several days while she is visiting Norfolk's Sandringham Estate during the Christmas holiday, all while debating whether or not she should leave her husband after rumors of his infidelity surfaced.
Not only are fans anxious to see how Stewart channels Lady Di's personality, but they're eager to see the actress transform into the royal icon. Thus far, she's been pretty convincing.
