When is the Brittany Murphy documentary available for streaming? Fans of the Clueless and Uptown Girls actress are still piecing together facts about her life and what led to her untimely death. Sadly, it seems like the late star's final days are still a mystery.

What Happened, Brittany Murphy? is a two-part release on the fall lineup for HBO Max. It particularly focuses on her marriage to 40-year-old screenwriter Simon Monjack, whom the film painted as a conman and the one responsible for her failing health.

If you ask some of the documentary's interviewees, Murphy and Monjack's union was the beginning of the end—for both of them. After a difficult time in Hollywood, and after rumors of the actress's unstable behavior on sets and drug use, Murphy and Monjack crossed paths. According to the trailer of the doc, he became very controlling of the star and wouldn't let her out of his sight.

"Once they got married, they were holed up in that house 24/7," one source alleges. "Nobody got close to her."

What's more is that a once-healthy young woman lost her life due to pneumonia, anemia and drug intoxication. Monjack's death followed five months after his wife's, due to similar causes.

For the past 12 years since their passing, the bizarre circumstances have lent to more questions than answers. Here's what you need to know.
