Meghan Markle has been known to wear some impressive jewelry, but never have we known her sparklers to be quite this controversial. A report has surfaced accusing Markle of wearing a pair of earrings allegedly gifted by Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman.

The Times claimed that Markle "knowingly" wore the earrings gifted by Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman just three weeks after the murder of journalist Jamal Khashoggi in October 2018. U.S. intelligence claims that Jamal Khashoggi was murdered by the Saudi prince.

Markle is presently being dragged by tabloids for her supposed "distasteful" behavior, which breaks royal protocol. But is it just us or is the timing of this new piece of info a little bit of a coincidence, seeing as Meghan Markle and Prince Harry's Oprah Winfrey interview is about to drop next week?

Markle's lawyers have spoken out ahead of the allegations, claiming she was unaware of any open investigations against the Saudi prince when she wore them. The Duchess's reps say that the sudden earring claims have been released purely for character assassination.

The statement released by her team says: “The Duchess is saddened by this latest attack on her character, particularly as someone who has been the target of bullying herself and is deeply committed to supporting those who have experienced pain and trauma."

"She is determined to continue her work building compassion around the world and will keep striving to set an example for doing what is right and doing what is good.”

Loyal supporters couldn't agree more, as one commenter took to Markle's defense saying: "The character assassination of Meghan Markle by the press is insane and so blatant! Yet Prince Andrew is out here.... let me not even start."
