Will there be a 'Riverdale' season 7? Here’s what we know about the final installment

Sad news for the Riverdale fandom and lovers of the Riverdale Girls’ TikTok content: it’s been announced that the show is officially joining the list of Netflix's canceled shows. But while we grapple with this announcement, no doubt fans want to know—will there be a Riverdale season 7?

With season 6 just episodes away from its finale, the question on everyone’s lips is whether there will be one last installment. There were a number of questions flying around about the rumored seventh season, with the likes of Lili Reinhart (a.k.a. Betty Cooper) sharing on Instagram Live that the cast was "hopeful" for another season.

Now it seems we have a bittersweet update—prepare yourselves, Riverdale fans…

Will there be a 'Riverdale' season 7? 

The seventh installment was confirmed in March 2022 but now we know it will be the last. Variety has reported that the show will officially end with season seven after airing for nearly six years on Netflix.

So while Archie-comic fans can rejoice at more wild storylines, adventure and a whole lot of hijinx, they must also prepare to bid farewell to Archie, Jughead, Veronica, Betty and Cheryl.

What will 'Riverdale' season 7 be about?

There’s no official confirmation about the last season's plot, with the fact it was ending having been kept very hush until now, but we can make some predictions!

Season 6 saw Archie and Betty finally become a couple and deal with the aftermath of an explosion that landed them in the dark alternate dream world of "Rivervale." It also featured a crossover with The Chilling Adventures of Sabrina, with Kiernan Shipka (Sabrina Spellman) reprising her role. 

As it stands, there are still a few more episodes to go until the finale—anything could happen knowing this show! 

No doubt it will end in a massive cliffhanger that will be continued into the seventh season. What we do know is it will likely include murder, intrigue, and a whole lot of relationship drama. 

The end of the show will also potentially mean we'll find out, once and for all, who ends up with whom—will Archie and Better be end-game we wonder?

When will 'Riverdale' season 7 come out?

According to Variety, the last season will likely air in 2023, between January and May. So there’s no need to start mourning your favorite characters just yet!
