The Sydney Sweeney nude scenes in Euphoria have faced a lot of speculation recently—and now the actress has spoken out on them to set the record straight.

Euphoria season two was, for many of us, our sole obsession for weeks. From inspiring us all to try the Euphoria makeup looks, and Maddy’s iconic hairstyles to breaking our hearts over the death of Ashtray. However, one thing fans weren’t keen on were Sydney Sweeny’s nude scenes after reports claimed she’d asked for several to be cut—now Cassie has clarified exactly what went down!

The sophomore season really messed with our emotions, from Rue’s drug addiction struggle to of course the toxic relationship between Nate and Cassie, and the subsequent breakdown of Cassie and Maddy's friendship.

The doomed romance between Nate and Cassie led to a number of nude scenes and saw Sweeney topless in several episodes—which prompted her to say in an interview with the Independent: “There are moments where Cassie was supposed to be shirtless and I would tell Sam, 'I don't really think that's necessary here.’

“He was like, 'Okay, we don't need it.' I’ve never felt like Sam has pushed it on me or was trying to get a nude scene into an HBO show. When I didn't want to do it, he didn't make me.”

Now she’s set the record straight once and for all, after her comments made the rounds on socials and became, in Sweeney’s words ‘their own beast.’ With many reporting, she’d actually asked for scenes to be cut from the show.

Speaking to Teen Vogue she said: “I never asked him to cut any scenes. It got twisted and turned and it became its own beast, and I was like, 'Oh, my God’.”

She added that Levinson never made her do something she didn’t want to do and was always very respectful of her, and made sure she was comfortable.

Sweeney also discussed how important the nude scenes are, especially for Cassie. She said: “There's a purpose to what that character is going through. That's the character. We all get naked in real life, we show this character's life and what they're going through. Cassie's body is a different form of communication for her."

So, that’s that set straight then!
