Willow Smith, daughter of Jada Pinkett Smith, and The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air himself, Will Smith, has revealed she’s polyamorous.

Willow, who has recently debuted an edgy, punk look, spoke on Jada’s Facebook chat show Red Table Talks. She told her mom and grandmother that she is polygamous in her relationships.

The 20-year-old who came out as bisexual two years ago said: “With polyamory, I feel like the main foundation is the freedom to be able to create a relationship style that works for you and not just stepping into monogamy because that's what everyone around you says is the right thing to do.”

Polygamy means to have more than one intimate romantic partner, with everyone in the relationship consenting to it.

Her grandmother challenged her and said it seemed to mainly revolve around sex, to which Willow gave this response.

Talking about a couple’s sex life, she explained how in a relationship you might have completely different needs: “Are you gonna be the person to say, you know, ‘just because I don't have these needs, you can't have them either?'"

She continued: “The reasons why I actually was interested in poly was because I was introduced to it through kind of a nonsexual lens. In my friend group, I’m the only polyamorous person, and I have the least sex out of all of my friends.”

She also said that "doing research into polyamory, the main reasons why monogamous relationships—or why marriage—why divorces happen is infidelity".

Jada agreed with her daughter, saying: “I'm okay with whatever you do when you were like, ‘Hey, this is my get down’ I was like, ‘I totally get it.'”

Willow told her mom and grandmother that she doesn’t think she’ll go beyond two partners. She said she would want a male and female partner, and if she had an emotional, romantic, and sexual connection with both, then she doesn’t feel like she would try and find more.
