Fans are abuzz over what transpired during the alleged Zayn Malik fight with Yolanda Hadid. Details are murky, but the former One Direction singer released a statement on the subject on Thursday, October 28, 2021, which is quickly gaining traction on social media.

For those who don't know, Malik had been dating Hadid's daughter, Gigi, off and on since 2015 and shares one-year-old Khai with the 26-year-old model. According to sources, the British pop star allegedly struck Gigi's mother, Yolanda, who is reportedly considering pressing charges.

"As you all know, I am a private person and I very much want to create a safe and private space for my daughter to grow up in. A place where private family matters aren't thrown on the world stage for all to poke and pick apart," read part of Malik's statement.

The letter continued, "In an effort to protect that space for her I agreed to not contest claims arising from an argument I had with a family member of my partner's who entered our home while my partner was away several weeks ago."

The statement in its entirety was written on the "Notes" app and posted on the singer's Twitter feed.

"This was and still should be a private matter but it seems for now there is divisiveness and despite my efforts to restore us to a peaceful family environment that will allow me to co-parent my daughter in a manner in which she deserves, this has been 'leaked' to the press."

He has since made another statement given to TMZ, denying the claims entirely. It read: "I adamantly deny striking Yolanda Hadid and for the sake of my daughter I decline to give any further details and I hope that Yolanda will reconsider her false allegations and move towards healing these family issues in private."

Zayn Malik fight with Yolanda Hadid: how did it start?

It does not appear that the two have had previous altercations, and it's still not entirely clear why the singer allegedly hit Hadid.

"I am hopeful though for healing of all involved with the harsh words shared and more importantly I remain vigilant to protect Khai and give her the privacy she deserves," the final sentence of Malik's statement read.

At the time of publication, Yolanda has not made a statement about the altercation. Gigi's reps, however, told E! (opens in new tab) that she is focusing on her daughter and asking for privacy during this time. Neither of them have released anything on social media.

Are Gigi and Zayn still together 2021?

Sources say that following news of the alleged altercation, Zayn and Gigi have broken up, according to People

Along with the supposed violent contact, the former boy bander was charged with four counts of harassment against his ex and her mother, to which he plead no contest on Wednesday, October 28, reports Page Six (opens in new tab)

Malik was fined and ordered to serve 90 days of probation for each count, for a grand total of 360 days. He must also complete anger management courses and a domestic violence supervision program, and must not make any contact with Yolanda Hadid or her security guard, who apparently was also involved in the altercation.

What does Bella Hadid have to say?

Although the supermodel and younger sister of Gigi has not made a public statement about the alleged altercation, sources revealed to US Weekly (opens in new tab) that both she and their brother, Anwar, had a huge "rift" with the singer following all that has transpired. According to those sources, they're upset with the situation that he has put sister Gigi in.

In addition to the tension between family members, Malik has been uncooperative with his ex-girlfriend's staff, according to additional reports.
