Is there a more glorious era for style than the 90s? If you said no, you’d be correct and Cher Horowitz's outfits in Clueless capture 90s fashion trends at their best. So, for anyone who's been obsessed with her style ever since they saw her virtual wardrobe (*guilty*), here's how to recreate some of her best looks...
When it comes to the best 90s TV shows and 90s movies, two characters stand out as style icons—Rachel Green, whose outfits still live in our minds rent-free and of course, Cher Horowitz from Clueless—who taught us the importance of accessorizing.
Whether it’s her iconic white strappy Calvin Klein dress or her yellow plaid co-ord, these mood-board moments (we're coining it) serve as inspiration for many of our outfits. So without further ado, let's look to the archive of one super stylish babe and delve into Cher Horowitz's outfits and where to shop swaps for her best '90s style moments
Cher Horowitz's outfits: how to recreate her best looks
First of all, let us say that not only did Cher give us a lifetime of outfit inspo, she also gave us fashion wisdom and the dream of having a digitized wardrobe that picks out your outfit for you—sigh. Why don’t they exist yet?
She made yellow plaid chic mini dresses the ultimate date-night look, and sweater vests sophisticated. But we’re getting ahead of ourselves—so let's dive into her best style moments from Clueless...
1. The Original Co-ord
How could we not start with the first and most iconic outfit of the movie, the fabled yellow, plaid matching jacket and skirt—which her computer picks out for her.
It’s the best first-day-of-school statement outfit, and we’re still here for it 20 plus years later. While the exact yellow plaid is hard to come by, you can still shop similar styles to this ensemble and we've found you a few alternatives that totally capture the vibe!
ASOS, Reclaimed Vintage Check Co-Ord
RRP (Skirt):$49.90/ £22.99
RRP(Vest): $62.90 /£35.99
How cute is this vest and skirt co-ord? It's giving major Cher and pleated skirts as so hot right now so, win-win! Available in sizes 0-14.
ASOS has made the shopping sitch really easy for us, you can select your size and add both items to your basket at the same time (and separately, if you'd prefer) by clicking the links below...

2. The mesh blouse
Could this be the origin of the mesh top? No, probably not, but we still love this look. Cher wears a white vest with a black contrasting mesh button-up.
Thanks to the world's obsession with nostalgia, mesh is still very much in—so finding a dupe of Cher's sheer button-up is as simple as a Google search!

NA-KD, Round Neck Fitted Mesh Top
RRP: $25.95/£18.95
You can also recreate Cher's look with a long-sleeve mesh top, which seem to be everywhere right now and after very '90s. Pair with a bralette and your fave gold huggie hoops and you've got a killer look on your hands—which would also work as a Valentine's Day outfit!

3. The lettuce hem baby T-shirt
We’ll really never be over baby T-shirts, especially when they have a cute lettuce hem. Cher wears a few throughout the film, either with her diamond check skirt or under a mini dress and we love it! An absolute wardrobe staple.
Weekday, Close Fitted Rib T-Shirt
RRP: £12
A white baby T definitely belongs in your capsule wardrobe, they go with everything, from jeans to skirts! This cute ribbed, basic tee is available in sizes XXS - Xl and in a few shade variations!

4. “You don't understand. This is an Alaia”
How could you ever forget that feathered red and black jacket that Cher wore with a red dress to the party? And of course, when Cher was made to lie down in it in a gross parking lot—we still get chills thinking about it.
That’s when the famous words were spoken:
Cher: “This is an Alaia.”
Mugger: “An a whatta?”
Cher: "An Alaia. It’s like a totally important designer."
Wolf & Badger, Marla Jacquard Fur Collar Jacket
RRP: £65/ $112
Alas, while Alaia no longer makes this particular jacket, we have found you one that captures its essence, down to the fluffy trim!
This red jacket has a v-neck, with fluff all along the color and the sleeves—it really is giving Cher!

5. The Calvin Klein dress
The prettiest mini dress ever. The white Calvin Klein dress that Cher wore is everything, especially when you pair it with a perfect voluminous blowout and a cute beaded necklace. This is potentially our favorite 90s look ever, and we need this dress in our forever closet!

6. Wanna look "capable"? Wear a sweater vest
Is there any item of clothing that says ‘I’m serious’ or ‘I’m here to ace this exam’ more than a sweater vest? Cher wears two during the film, including a brown and a red sweater vest with a cool white shirt, and she really means business!
We also adore how she wore a matching brown headband with this one.

7. The leather jacket
Leather jackets are very 90s and also very on trend right now, yet again proving that Cher should be everyone’s fashion inspo. Blazers are a similar story. Another favourite of Cher's, you’ll see an oversized blazer everywhere right now.

8. The Green dress
There’s something about Cher’s mall date dress that we just love. Maybe it’s the color or the little sleeves—either way, it’s a win in our book.

9. The knee-high sock moment
Hello, knee-high socks! When worn correctly they can make one hell of an outfit. Sadly, we doubt we’ll be bringing these back into our wardrobe rotation any time soon—but Cher kills in them, as always.
