It looks like frosted eyeshadow, the iconic 2000s beauty trend is having something of a renaissance on the red carpet. Here's a recap of all the recent shimmery celeb looks and how to rock the nostalgic look yourself...

While we already know that silver fashion is making a comeback, it seems the metallic hue is also set to make its way into our beauty regimes, along with the 90s/00s baby blue eyeshadow trend.

Not convinced? Well, all the evidence you need is currently strutting up and down the red carpet, as the likes of Emma Chamberlain and The Little Mermaid's Halle Bailey have both recently rocked the icy blue look—and not to mention Gigi Hadid's silver Met Gala eye makeup. So, here's why the two shades still deserve a spot in your glam routine, according to these famous names...

What is the frosted eyeshadow trend?

This sparkly look can be traced back to both the 90s and 2000s. In the 1990s, frosted silver and baby blue eyeshadow were all the rage, continuing right on through to the Y2K era, where the likes of Britney Spears and Beyonce made the icy look truly iconic.

As for what 'frosted' entails, it basically means sparkly—but worn over the two cool-toned hues it creates a chilly, frost-like look, hence frosted.

Just a few years ago, the idea of blue and silver eyeshadow making a comeback into the beauty zeitgeist would have made the millennials among us shudder. However, after all the recent celebrity looks, we're definitely warming up to this look—more so than that of the maxi denim skirt at least...

Best celeb frosted eyeshadow looks

As mentioned, the silver and blue tones have been very prominent lately, with the likes of Kendall Jenner rocking a baby blue lid, along with Emma Chamberlain's dramatic blue Met Gala makeup and Halle Bailey's silver pearly eye look from The Little Mermaid premiere...

1. Halle Bailey's ocean blue frosted eyeshadow

Halle opted for a cool, light blue and silver shimmer eye look to compliment her shiny blue, water-like gown as she attended the premiere of The Little Mermaid on Monday, May 8, 2023.

The subtle blue shimmer was perfectly on theme and we could definitely see this look working with a silver mini dress or mesh top for a party fit!

2. Emma Chamberlain's blue Met Gala look

Blue and silver eyeshadow was to the Met what sheer dresses were to the 2023 Vanity Fair Oscar's after-party. Everyone seemed to be sporting the 90s look, especially Emma, who opted for this grungy blue smokey eye.

3. Gigi Hadid's silver Met Gala moment

Like Emma, Gigi also repped the vintage frosty look but instead of a blue tone, she opted for silver. This icy look has really inspired us to get our shimmer on!

4. Dua Lipa's shimmery silver Met look

Dua Lipa also sported a metallic grey shimmer on the Met Gala steps, along with a smokey winged eyeliner—proving that this look is actually super versatile. We're just living for this combo of diffused, shimmery grey with a smudgy black liner.
