We all have our favorite celebrity pairings but sometimes even after said pairings break up and move on, the drama continues to follow them. This is definitely the case for Justin Bieber, Hailey Bieber and Selena Gomez, who have been at the center of rumors and fan feuds for years, but what exactly is all this new drama between Hailey and Selena about? We’ll explain…

For anyone who doesn’t know, Hailey and Justin Bieber are married and have been since 2018, reuniting in 2017 after an on-and-off relationship. However, Justin was also famously in a similarly on-again/off-again relationship with Rare Beauty mogul, Selena Gomez, for years before his engagement to Hailey—by many accounts, they were each other's first loves—which like many celeb pairings, like Tom Holland and Zendaya had some fans completely invested.

The back-and-forths between the trio have sparked endless debates between ‘Jailey’ and ‘Jelena’ fans about their relationships overlapping and even claims that Hailey ‘stole’ Justin from Selena.

But why is it seemingly coming to a head now—when Hailey and Justin have been happily married for four years now and Selena has moved on?

WELL, Selena has a documentary on the way which many think will contain some major tea on her relationship—meanwhile, Hailey has announced that she will appear on the ‘Call Her Daddy’ podcast to finally address rumors that she ‘stole’ Justin.

But before that—let’s do a deep dive into how what exactly happened between these three...

A breakdown of the Justin, Hailey and Selena drama

The discourse between fans all seems to stem back to the relationship timings—Justin and Selena went public with their relationship all the way back in 2011 and were on and off until 2015—when Justin was first linked to Hailey, as the pair were spotted on holiday together.

Following Justin and Selena’s breakup, he and Hailey confirmed their relationship with a New Year's Eve smooch in December 2015 but split a few months later in 2016.

Then in 2016, amid rumors of a reconciliation between Selena and Justin—the Sorry singer went public with his relationship with Sofia Ritchie—and shared a pretty dramatic exchange with Selena online.

After telling fans to stop hating on Sofia online, Selena wrote in response: “If you can’t handle the hate then stop posting pictures of your girlfriend lol—it should be special between you two only. Don’t be mad at your fans. They love you.”

Justin then replied, according to US weekly: “It’s funny to see people that used me for attention are still trying to point the finger this way. Sad. All Love. I’m not one for anyone receiving hate.”

To which Selena shot back: “Funny how the ones that cheated multiple times are pointing the finger at the ones that were forgiving and supportive, no wonder fans are mad. Sad. All love.” Yikes.

Following this exchange, Selena was linked to The Weekend, but they went their separate ways 10 months later before news broke in November 2017 that Hailey and Justin were back on once more.

Here’s where it starts to get a little messy…

December 2017: Despite seemingly being ‘back on’ with Selena, Justin was spotted hanging out with Hailey again after their brief encounter in 2015. However, the pair claimed they were ‘just friends’ with US Weekly reporting that they had both ‘moved on.’

May 2018: In May came the news that Selena and Justin were done for good, with Selena according to US weekly ‘choosing happiness’ over her relationship with Justin, which her family did not support.

June 2018: Then came Justin and Hailey’s reunion—which would turn out to be the last, because, in August 2018, Justin proposed to Hailey with her iconic opal engagement ring.

September 2018: Hailey and Justin officially tied the knot—before having another glamorous wedding ceremony in 2019.

Since their engagement, Justin and Hailey have suffered a lot of online hate, with Hailey even taking to TikTok to beg trolls to ‘leave her alone’—so what’s going on now?

It all seems to be kicking off again with the news that Selena is releasing a documentary…

Selena Gomez’s Documentary

Selena’s Apple TV documentary ‘My Mind & Me’ will show a glimpse into the last six years of her life, spanning her Disney Channel and music career—and many fans suspect, her relationship with Justin.

The trailer shows Selena wiping away tears, recording new music, and spending time with her friends and family and has been described as a, ‘uniquely raw and intimate documentary’ that will show the last six years of her life in a ‘new light.’ It’s set to drop on Apple on November 4th.

Now you might be wondering why a documentary about Selena’s life will have catapulted her past relationship drama back into the spotlight…

Well, just weeks after Selena’s documentary was announced, Hailey has revealed that she will be appearing on the Call Her Daddy podcast to speak about her relationship timeline with Justin for the first time.

Announcing the news on TikTok, the model and Rhode beauty founder will appear on the Call Her Daddy podcast to share the ‘truth’ about her relationship with Justin.

In the teaser, when asked by host Alex Cooper, “were you ever with Justin romantically at the same time as her?" Hailey responded saying: “A lot of the hate and the perpetuation comes from like ‘oh you stole him’ but it’s about people knowing the truth because there’s a truth!”

The timing of this interview has set TikTok into a frenzy, with some claiming it’s a ‘damage control’ move ahead of Selena’s documentary. But it’s important to remember that the only people who really know what went down between Justin, Selena and Jailey—ARE Justin, Selena and Hailey.

What did Hailey say about Selena on 'Call Her Daddy'?

On the hotly anticipated episode of Call Her Daddy, Hailey said there was not one time—during both hers and Selena's on and off again relationships with Justin—that overlapped.

When asked if she was ever with Justin at the same time as Selena, Hailey said: "No, not one time—when him and I ever started hooking up or like anything of that sort, he was not ever in a relationship, ever at any point. I would never—it's not my character to mess with someone's relationship. I would just never do that."

She then added: "I can say period, point blank I was never with him when he was in a relationship with anybody, that's the end of it and I had been involved with him since I was 18. The timeline also, that is sometimes is in question of us like getting together and getting engaged and him having been spending time with his ex before that—I understand again, how it looks and there's a lot of perception there but that was a situation where I know for a fact, it was the right thing for them to close that door.

"They were not in a relationship at that time but of course, there's a very long history there and it's not my relationship, it has nothing to do with me so I respect that a lot. But  I know that it closed a chapter and I think it was the best thing that could have happened for him to move on and be engaged and get married and move on with his life."

Hailey then went on to say: "It's hard for me to talk about this, I don't want to talk on either one of their behalf again, cus it was their relationship and I honestly respect that very deeply but I just know what was going on when we got back together and I know what had to happen for that to come back together in a healthy way and I think it was the most healthy mature, a decision that he could have made and I respect that.

"As a woman, I would never want to get into a relationship with someone and be engaged to them and be getting married to them and think in the back of my mind, 'I wonder if that was really closed for you' and I think for a fact the reason we were able to get back together is because it was very much, completely closed."
