Are 'Euphoria' stars Hunter Schafer and Dominic Fike dating?

A recent Instagram Story may have just confirmed those Hunter Schafer and Dominic Fike romance rumors

If life imitates art, Euphoria’s Hunter Schafer and Dominic Fike are a budding couple—or so fans hope.

Euphoria season 2 is currently underway, and viewers are already hooked on Rue's next chapter. Fans are being introduced to new characters like Elliot from Euphoria (played by Fike) and Fez (Angus Cloud), but off-screen happenings among the cast have equally piqued their interest.

While everyone is waiting to see what unfolds in the drama series, let's catch up with an IRL coupling, too.

Are Hunter Schafer and Dominic Fike dating?

The romance rumors began when the paparazzi caught Hunter Schafer and Dominic Fike leaving Nice Guy in West Hollywood whilst holding hands on January 16, 2022. Could this just be a friendly dinner...or something more? Have a look at the images below and judge for yourself.

In Euphoria, Fike's character Elliot throws a monkey wrench into the Rue-Jules relationship and turns the on-again, off-again couple into a love triangle. It appears our real-life Rue is out of the pic off-camera (Zendaya and Tom Holland are one of Hollywood's cutest It couples, after all) but all eyes are on Jules and Elliot...er, we mean Hunter and Dominic.

Fike, a 26-year-old musician who has worked with Halsey, Justin Bieber and even Beatles sensation Paul McCartney, has been previously linked to actress-model Diana Silvers, but their courtship has fizzled out as of summer 2021—seemingly around the time that Euphoria was in production.

Schafer, for her part, has been fairly vocal about her love life and coming into her own. In a December 2021 interview with Harper's Bazaar, the actress discusses pivotal moments in her life, including her transition, her first love and most notably her relationship with the Euphoria cast.

She confesses to seeing herself in Jules, and we can't help but wonder if that means she's taken a bit of her character off-camera with this (potential) new relationship.

Dominic Fike birthday post: are they finally Instagram official?

Well, it looks like we finally have some official relationship confirmation, if Dominic Fike's recent Instagram Story is anything to go by. On Friday, February 11, the actor posted a Story of he and Schafer sharing a sweet smooch over a plate of cake, with the caption "Happy birthday happy birthday."

Whose birthday the duo was celebrating is actually a bit of a mystery, as Dominic Fike was born on December 30 and Hunter Schafer's birthday is only a day later on December 31. (We love a Capricorn power couple!) Maybe it was a belated joint celebration? The twosome has had a busy last few months, what with the new season of Euphoria dropping on HBO. Speaking of...

'Euphoria' season 2: what to know

Until we know what's going on for certain IRL, we're going to switch gears back to fiction. Euphoria airs Sundays at 9pm on HBO (subscription services available below) and follows troubled teen Rue (Zendaya) as she navigates her way through addiction. Now that Fike's Elliott is in the picture, Rue's relationship with Jules is undoubtedly going to be shaken up.

Regardless of what's in store for the love triangle in the show, season 2 has certainly not been for the faint of heart.

On Instagram, Zendaya wrote: "This season, maybe even more so than the last, is deeply emotional and deals with subject matter that can be triggering and difficult to watch. Please only watch if you feel comfortable. Please take care of yourself and know that either way you are still loved."

Should any new Euphoria developments, on-screen and off-screen, be made clear, we'll be sure to fill you in!
