Bridgerton season two is nearly upon us! After over a year of waiting, we’ll finally get our ‘regencycore’ fix, from stolen glances to steamy sex scenes—but according to Lady Whistledown herself aka Nicola Coughlan, we nearly saw the wrong Bridgerton brother drop his draws, thanks to this sex scene mishap!
The sophomore season of the record-breaking show will revolve around the Viscount, Anthony Bridgerton (Jonathan Bailey), and his romance with Kate Sharma (Simon Ashley) However, that doesn’t mean we won’t see another one of the Bridgerton boys have a bit of fun…
Benedict Bridgerton had his fair share of 'raking' around London and Bath, where Bridgerton is filmed in season one, but apparently, he's actually not getting any at all in season two—despite prepping for them, after bosses confused him for Colin Bridgerton!
Coughlan, who plays Penelope Featherington, revealed that both actors share the first name Luke—Luke Newton, who plays Colin, and Luke Thompson, Benedict. So bosses accidentally mixed them up and instructed Thompson to start prepping for his sex scenes, including hitting the gym with a personal trainer!
She explained to the Sun (opens in new tab): “Luke Thompson got mixed up with the other Luke—Newton—on the show. They offered him a personal trainer for his intimate scenes, and we don't get all the scripts at once, so he was like, 'I wonder what that's going to be?'"
Apparently, it was all sorted before they actually came to filming once they realized that Thompson definitely did not have any upcoming sex scenes. Shame about all those gym seshes...Coughlan says he did get to keep his personal trailer though, so there’s that!
So no, sorry Benedict fans, he won’t be getting any love scenes this time. Colin Bridgerton on the other hand will, which leads us to ask just who will he be sharing these sex scenes with? Could it be Penelope—or is a new romance on the cards?
Those who've read the Bridgerton books will likely have a clue of who his mystery lover could be...
