For nearly 17 years, they were on a break—but now the Friends reunion is bringing back all of our favorite, well, friends!

The NBC sitcom defined a generation and still to this day is one of the most successful and iconic TV shows ever. Now the long-awaited reunion of the cast of Friends is on its way, and it's sooner than you might think.

We all have our favorite Friends' character and episode, and have been praying and dreaming about a new episode or get-together between Rachel Green, Monica Geller, Phoebe Buffay, Chandler Bing, Joey Tribbiani, and Ross Geller, and the actors who play them. And now it's finally happening.

The reunion was announced by HBO Max last year, but like all good things was delayed by the pandemic. It has officially finished filming, however, as the Friend's Instagram handle confirmed the news, posting: "That’s a wrap! 🎬 Could we BE anymore excited!? Friends: The Reunion is coming to @hbomax. #friendsreunion."

Friends reunion release date: when does the Friends reunion air?

While we know that the reunion will air on HBO Max, sadly no official release date has been announced yet. But, as the filming has now wrapped, we can likely expect it in the next few months. We’ve waited for nearly two decades, we can wait a few more months!

All of the original cast—Jennifer Aniston, Courteney Cox, Lisa Kudrow, Matt LeBlanc, Matthew Perry, and David Schwimmer—are returning for the Friends reunion. Joining them will be the creators of the show, Marta Kauffman and David Crane, as well as producer Kevin Bright. Hopefully we’re in for something just as special as the original show.

In another exciting piece of news for Friends fans, TMZ has reported that the reunion will incorporate the original fountain from the show's iconic opening credits.

Matthew Perry let slip that filming was taking place in an Instagram post that has now been deleted, as HBO Max had not yet officially announced it.

The Metro reported that Perry captioned his post of him getting his makeup done for filming: "Seconds before eating a makeup brush. Not to mention reuniting with my Friends." Before deleting, Perry' post got an Instagram like from his co-star, Jen Aniston.

It's safe to say, this Friends reunion has been a long time coming, and we cannot wait!
