Nail art and trendy patterns shift with the seasons, and thanks to the gift that is social media, we can keep up with popular nail polish colors and designs more easily than ever before. Plus we've got a whole range of celebs that keep us updated on new nail trends on the daily—enter Kylie Jenner.

Jenner, of course, never misses a fashion or makeup trend and her latest look? French manicure tips (from L.A. nail guru Chaun Legend) currently on view in her Instagram and TikTok videos.

Jenner showed off her new signature nail look with a manicure that features updated French tips. Rather than the classic white tips, Kylie sports a rainbow of bright colors, as well as retro swirls, not to mention her trademark long, rectangular nail shape that we so wish we could replicate.

The groovy swirled pattern on each nail, which is applied only to the tips, is influenced by a typical French manicure but brought bang up to current trends with a ’70s-inspired color palette.

Given that Kylie Jenner’s unique nail art is usually freehand painted on to gel-tip extensions, recreating this look without the assistance of a nail technician may be difficult. However, if you want to give it a shot the swirly pattern is a good place to start.

To begin, soften the bristles of a fine-line brush with acetone, and then pour a drop of nail polish onto a piece of foil. Instead of dipping the brush directly into the polish, drag it across it in various directions to saturate the bristles fully. When you feel confident start drawing squiggles from the bottom to the top after practicing line work on the same piece of foil.

Now that we’ve been inspired by Jenner’s cool mani patterns, we’re wondering what other trends we can create. Stripes made of foil? What about color blocking with neutral tones? There’s a whole range of options and we can’t wait to give them a whirl just in time for spring!
