Rihanna has spoken out on her bold pregnancy style and the fun that she has had getting "dressed up" during the last few months.

The star broke the internet with the coolest, most Riri pregnancy announcement ever back in January, as she revealed she was expecting her first baby with boyfriend A$AP Rocky. Since then she has been single-handedly redefining pregnancy style—and has now spoken on it for the first time.

In a dreamy interview with Vogue, where she gave us a lowdown about the pros of moving out of the ‘friend zone’ in her relationship with A$AP—she also spoke about her bold and truly iconic maternity style.

It’s safe to say she’s changed the game for a new generation of first-time moms. Reflecting on when she found out she was pregnant, Riri said: “I thought to myself, ‘There’s no way I’m going to go shopping in no maternity aisle.’ I’m sorry—it’s too much fun to get dressed up. I’m not going to let that part disappear because my body is changing."

She explained that by dressing creatively and ‘non-conventionally’ for someone who is pregnant, she hopes to empower other moms.

She says: “I’m hoping that we were able to redefine what’s considered ‘decent’ for pregnant women. My body is doing incredible things right now, and I’m not going to be ashamed of that. This time should feel celebratory. Because why should you be hiding your pregnancy?”

She also points out that her beau matches her bold style, and encourages her to keep doing so, 'like iron sharpening iron.’

So far she has closed down red carpets in gorgeous, midriff-bearing sets and even coined a new trend of ‘belly accessorizing,’ with the help of colorful beads, gold chains and of course diamonds.

Her pregnancy style can be seen as equally artistic as it is empowering, using cutouts, mesh dresses, and bralettes to showcase her growing bump and even showing that jeans—though not the most comfortable—are by no means off-limits during pregnancy, in fact, the baggier the better!
