Here's everything we know about Sydney Sweeney's Madame Web appearance!

Sydney Sweeney is following in the footsteps of Euphoria co-star Zendaya and her boyfriend (and current Spider-man) Tom Holland, as she joins Sony Marvel’s Spider-Man universe. According to Deadline, Sydney is set to star in the new Madame Web movie and we can’t wait! Here’s everything we know so far…
Sweeney who plays Cassie in the gritty teenage drama Euphoria is joining the likes of Dakota Johnson for the upcoming movie Madame Web, and fans think she could be playing a certain feline anti-hero.

Who is Madame Web?
For any that aren’t familiar with this particular Marvel character, Madame Web is a clairvoyant mutant who predicts the future of spider-themed heroes and has acted as a mentor to the likes of Peter Parker (Spider-Man) in the comics. She is depicted as paralyzed and linked up to a web-like life support machine.
This film will exist in the Sony Spider-Man Universe, along with Morbius, Venom, and of course, Tom Holland's Spider-Man movies—which are also part of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, as Tom’s Spider-Man has appeared in several parts of the Avengers' Infinity Saga.
Dakota Johnson has been cast as ‘Madame Web’ and while Deadline has confirmed Sweeney is joining the lineup, it's so far unclear who she will play.
However, fans are theorizing that she could be taking on the mantle of Black Cat!
Who is Sydney Sweeney playing in Madame Web?
While it's not yet confirmed, fans think Sweeney will be playing Spider-Man's love interest and anti-hero, Black Cat (aka Felicia Hardy.) Marvel’s equivalent to DC’s Cat Woman if you will. In fact, Twitter is pretty desperate to see her in the role…
One fan tweeted: “Manifesting Sydney Sweeney as Black Cat.”

Another added: “I am once again pushing the Sydney Sweeney black cat agenda”
While a third said: “If Sydney Sweeney is Black Cat in this I'm getting a Sony tattoo on my lower back.”

When does the new Spider-Man movie come out?
Sadly there’s no official release date for Madame Web yet, but Rotten Tomatoes are reporting that it could hit screens in 2023.
The plot for Sony’s first modern, female lead Spider-Man movie is also being kept very much under wraps, like most comic-book movies. We do know, however, that the movie is being directed by S.J. Clarkson, who also brought us The Defenders and Jessica Jones.
As far as superhero content though, at least we still have Marvel’s Doctor Strange 2 Multiverse of Madness to tide us over until more details are revealed!
