With the Love Island 2022 final creeping closer and closer and the long-awaited baby challenge now behind us—you might be wondering, just when is the ‘Meet the Parents’ episode actually happening? Here’s everything we know about the big reunion.

We’re now in the last week of Love Island season eight, with our remaining five couples inching closer to the grand prize—but before one loved-up pairing can claim their winnings, they must first endure the final and ultimate test for any blossoming romance—meeting the ‘rents.

However, with just days left until the end, when can we expect the islander’s families to arrive at the villa?

When is 'Meet the Parents' on Love Island?

Taking a look back at previous seasons, their folks usually arrive in the penultimate episode of the series, ahead of the final. So since we’ve now had the baby challenge, we’re right on track for the parents to arrive on Sunday.

In Love Island 2021, Millie Court received a text that some familiar faces had arrived in the Friday teaser for Sunday’s episode (August 22nd 2021)—so we’ll likely see a similar setup in the third last episode this week.

What happens in the ‘Meet the Parents’ episode of Love Island?

As the name suggests the ‘Meet the Parents’ challenge sees every islander's family (and sometimes friends) enter the villa to reunite with them and also meet their other halves.

Usually, there are some very heartwarming scenes, with the parents approving immediately of their children’s new partners—but we have an inkling this season might be a little awkward, after all the Casa Amor drama. Can we take a moment to picture Andrew meeting Tasha’s family after the whole ‘t** or whatever’ moment? Yikes…

Sadly, for any football fans out there hoping to see Gemma’s dad/football legend, Michael Owen, you’ll be sorely disappointed—as he’s confirmed that he will not be jetting to Mallorca to see her.

‘Ekin-De’ fans, on the other hand, will get to see what we can only assume will be a hilarious meeting between Ekin-Su and Davide’s families—because let’s be honest, their Love Island journey has not exactly been smooth sailing, so we’re sure they’ll have a lot to discuss!

Maybe Davide will make some more tiramisu to win them all over?
