Just as we were starting to recover from Jacques' emotional departure from the villa and the shock return of Adam Collard on Love Island 2022—season seven’s winners Millie Court and Liam Reardon have just announced their split.

Yep, another Love Island couple bites the dust as Millie and Liam have shared their break-up news on Instagram.

Taking to her story, Millie posted: “Hi everyone, to avoid any speculation Liam and I wanted to share with you that we have separated. It’s been a tough decision and I am gutted but it’s ultimately what is best for us right now...

"Thank you to every single one of you for supporting our relationship. Nothing will ever take away from the amazing experience we shared on Love Island & the past year and I wish Liam all the best in everything he does. We’re both ready for new chapters and I’m excited for what’s next.” Nah, we’re heartbroken.

Liam also shared an update to his own story, mirroring Millie’s sentiments and adding: “We both will continue to be friends and I will remain Millie's biggest supporter in all that she does and I know she will always do amazing," before signing off with, “thank you for all supporting us on what's been an incredible journey.”

Speaking of their journey, it wasn’t exactly plain sailing like some of our other long-standing couples (like Molly-Mae and Tommy for instance.) In fact, fans have spotted a number of similarities between this year's Casa Amor antics, and Liam’s in season seven. If you need a recap, we’ve got you…

Millie and Liam's Love Island journey

The pair started off idyllic, as Millie entered as a bombshell with Lucinda Strafford and following a very chemistry-filled date with Liam, fully turned his head. The pair then coupled up and became instant couple goals, with Liam even famously nicknaming her ‘Millie-Moo’—Ah, those were the days…

They looked like end-game, that is until Casa hit. Liam’s head was the one none of us expected to turn—but much like Jacques and Dami this season—Liam gave into temptation and share a number of kisses with Lillie Haynes.

Despite fears that he would recouple with her, he returned single for Millie, who was waiting for him. Then in one of the most memorable Love Island moments ever, Lillie and the rest of the Casa girls entered the villa for the recoupling and she spilled the beans on his behavior.

Millie then told him she did not see a future with him and so Liam began to work to gain her forgiveness.

Clearly, Jacques watched their season as many fans noticed similarities between Liam and Jacques’ Casa Amor antics—with Jacques even taking a leaf out of Liam’s grafting book by leaving Paige a lipstick note in bed and giving her an apology speech.

Unlike Paige and Jacques though, Millie and Liam did end up winning Love Island 2021 and even moved in together post-villa but now, sadly we know they’ve officially called time on their relationship.
