The Love Island final is here! Follow our Love Island final live coverage at this link. Here's everything that happened in the final few days of the show, as we watch the Love Island final.

With challenges like Casa Amor, 'Mad movies', the heart rate challenge and even the long-awaited baby challenge now behind us, you may be thinking that we've had all the Love Island memorable moments that this series is going to give us. However, fans will be pleased to know that the show's producers still have a few aces up their sleeves—like the 'Meet the Parents' episode and the iconic dates—that seemed to have stepped up a gear this year.

So before you start pondering who will win Love Island UK 2022 or which couples will actually last, you've still got a couple of hours left of entertainment.

Love Island final: When is the last episode?

Narrator Iain Stirling confirmed on last Thursday's episode (July 21) that the final will be today (Monday August 1st 2022).

Speaking about the contestants making new connections, he said they would only have to last until a week on Monday, when the final is happening. We already had a pretty good inkling as Casa Amor is a very good indicator of where we are in the series, as it usually hits at the midway point when our couples are the most settled.

Last year's series, which saw Millie Court and Liam Reardon take the win (who have recently broken up), also ended on a Monday, with an hour and a half long episode. So it’s safe to assume this year will be similar.

So start preparing some viewing content for that week because you’ll no longer be getting your villa fix (maybe it's time to start watching Love Island USA?).

What Love Island challenges are still to come?

While fans have expressed their disappointment over the absence of the notorious Twitter challenge, we did get most of the other challenges that we usually love to watch—the 'Snog, Marry, Pie' challenge was particularly entertaining this year (here's how to watch Love Island if you missed it).

Another iconic Love Island moment that viewers were looking forward to was the 'Meet the Parents' episode.  As the name describes, the islanders' families enter the villa and meet their other halves. It's especially exciting when an islander has a celeb parent, but sadly Gemma Owen's (the only islander with a famous parent) dad didn't make an appearance.

During this last episode, we'll see the couples attend the Love Island Summer Ball and make declarations of love.

How many couples are in the Love Island final?

When it comes to the final, four couples remain—with the third and four place pairings typically revealed earlier in the episode. Laura then interviews each couple, and we see a compilation of their best bits before the winner is announced.

Last year, Faye and Teddy, Kaz and Tyler, Chloe and Toby and Millie and Liam were all in the final together.

What happens in the Love Island final?

The final is live from Mallorca (where Love Island is filmed) and will see the final four couples look back over all their best and most dramatic moments. Laura Whitmore will be hosting and there will also be a live audience, usually sitting around candle-lit tables.

The episode is usually an hour and a half and sees pre-recorded clips from their finals days, including a formal party where the couples wear suits and dresses before giving their romantic speeches.

We then see the fourth and third place couples announced, followed by the winning couple out of the final two.

The victorious pairing is then given the choice to split or keep the £50,000 prize money—so far no one has ever chosen to keep all of the money, but maybe this will be the year…
