How to recreate Shiv Roy's timeless officecore 'Succession' outfits—without that Waystar fortune
Here's how to channel Shiv in your office fits...
As we tune into Succession season 4—the final ever installment of the HBO show—we're turning to Shiv Roy's outfits for some major inspo on which staples to add to our work capsule wardrobes. From her turtlenecks to those "battle armor" power suits, here's how to recreate Shiv's corporate style...
While we're swearing off "ludicrously capacious" bags for life thanks to Tom, we will be taking some styling cues away from Shiv. Though we in no way envy Shiv's job-sitch, her style evolution—noted by many fans—is one of the most interesting on the show and can pose as a lesson in the importance of having timeless shapes and cuts in your own closet.
Throughout the show's four seasons, we've spied her in everything from silk dresses and that blue floral dress, to matching corporate-like pants and blazer sets, right down to her minimal accessories—all of which provide some serious inspo for your office attire. So, for anyone looking to embody professional vibes with their closet, here's how to recreate Shiv's outfits...
How to recreate Shiv Roy's outfits from Succession
Fans of the show will have no doubt spied Shiv's fashion sense change since season one, when she was the only Roy sibling working outside of the family biz. Her fits (and hair for that matter) went from soft, pastel and casual, to structured and formal when she started working for her father, Logan Roy.
This was no coincidence, as costume designer, Michelle Matland, tells the New Yorker that when Shiv goes to work for her father, it sees her adorn her "new armor” of tailored pieces, that her father would approve of.
Naturally, Shiv wears a ton of designer brands like Armani, but thankfully, her pieces are all pretty classic styles and shapes. So, how can we achieve her look, minus her budget?
First, you'll need to stock your wardrobe with turtlenecks and a few pairs of gold huggie earrings...
1. Turtlenecks
Through the show's four-season run, Shiv has sported a ton of everyday turtleneck looks, in everything from black and cream to grey and maroon—so this long sleeve number is a great starting point...
Zara Basic Turtleneck Knit Sweater
RRP: $39.90
This classic turtleneck is available in six shades, including white, black and grey—so if you want all of Shiv's basics, get adding them to your cart!
H&M Turtleneck Top
RRP: $17.99
This top from H&M is another great swap from the ones Shiv wears throughout Succession. Available in sizes XS to XXL.
Mango Turtleneck Long-Sleeved T-Shirt
RRP: $25.99
Another perfect example of a Shiv-approved turtleneck. Pair this one with jeans or a pair of trousers for a chic, put-together look!
2. Blazers
Shiv's go-to office look always comes equipped with a tailored blazer, plus they're very in right now, so regardless if you're in need of a new work-appropriate wardrobe, you need a blazer in your jacket rotation!
Mango Wrap Check Blazer
RRP: $99.99
Shiv is a big fan of a herringbone or tweed/check style blazer, so this number from Mango is a safe bet if you're looking to recreate her fits.
It features a wrap-style closure and comes in sizes XS to 4XL.
& Other Stories Relaxed Single-Breasted Linen Blazer
RRP: $179
This beige linen blazer is another great alternative to a few Shiv wears in the show.
And if you're looking to complete the look, there are coordinating trousers and a vest available.
3. Wide-leg trousers
Trousers are another key staple in Shiv Roy's closet, from darted trousers to casual, elastic-waisted slacks (which we've seen her wear during season four).
A nice pair of trousers never fail to elevate a look and even if Shiv isn't your fave Succession character, you can't go wrong with adding a simple pair of neutral trousers to your own wardrobe.
H&M Wide-cut Linen Pants
RRP: $84.99
These trousers are a close match to the pair Shiv wears in the first episode of season four and will become a real office staple when summer rolls around!
Zara Full-Length Pants
RRP: $45.90
Everyone needs a simple pair of black trousers in their closet!
They're perfect for a sophisticated dinner look, or paired with sneakers—like the Adidas Sambas—for a cool, Scandi-girl-like fit.
Cue our dramatic strut in our blazer and pants to that piano intro...
