What happened during the 'Vanderpump Rules' Mexico trip?

Per usual, things get dicey for the SUR group when they head out of town. Here's what Raquel Leviss revealed about the messy getaway

There's been quite a few Vanderpump Rules Mexico trips prior to #Scandoval.

Take a step back in time to season 2's Cabo getaway when Katie Maloney and Tom Schwartz got into an explosive fight, which ended with him pouring beer over her head. In the sixth season, the SUR group ventured to Playa Del Carmen, and Brittany Cartwright and Jax Taylor's connection was truly tested, as was the case for exes James Kennedy and Kristen Doute. Then, a Puerto Vallarta vacation in season 7, ahead of TomTom's opening, famously excluded James Kennedy.

None of these memorable vacations could possibly compare to the most recent Mexican getaway for Scheana Shay and Brock Davies' nuptials in 2022. (Considering the Scheana Shay wedding photos debacle that unfolded, are you surprised?) Here's what happened when the cast went south of the border for season 10.

What happened on the 'Vanderpump Rules' Mexico trip?

Scheana and Brock's wedding at Dreams Natura Resort & Spa was supposed to be the focal point of the summer 2022 trip, but we got slightly sidetracked when Raquel Leviss decided to smooch Tom Schwartz, a big no-no for his ex-wife Katie. Tears, heartbreak and friendship breakups prevailed, but as it turns out, we were focusing on the wrong Tom entirely.

Fast-forward to the big Vanderpump Rules reunion, which aired its final installment on June 7, 2023. We'd been waiting for that much-hyped Vanderpump Rules secret to finally be revealed, and as it turns out, the bombshell did, in fact, have to do with one of Raquel's Mexico hookups, but the one with Tom Sandoval, and the specifics of their infidelity timeline. During her final confessional at part three of the reunion special, Leviss revealed that she and Sandoval were intimate throughout the entire Mexico trip, while the whole Raquel/Schwartz makeout dominated the storyline.

"The second time was actually during Mexico," Raquel said in her reunion one-on-one. "I was like, ‘We can't see each other. This isn't going to be a thing.' But then that first night in Cancun, he was, like, drunk and trying to find his room and I heard him talking in the hallway and there was somebody working there and he was, like, asking which direction the elevator was. And I was like, ‘Wait, just come inside. Sorry, sir, he's really drunk.' That was the second time we were physical, intimate with each other.'"

Needless to say, quite a bit has unfolded since news of the affair broke, and now we're questioning what Vanderpump Rules season 11 will look like as a result. Despite it all, Ariana is moving on, landing sponsorship deals and movie roles and focusing on opening Something About Her sandwich shop alongside Maloney.

Post-affair, Madix returned to Mexico solo in March 2023, this time for another friend's wedding, and looked happy dancing and posing for photos with friends, according to Entertainment Tonight. Perhaps her next Mexican vacation will be a way for her to unwind after all her latest projects.

“Sometimes I’m like, Can’t I just have a really fun summer where nothing bad happens, where I’m great, you know?” Madix said in a new Glamour interview. “Maybe this is the year.”
