It really has been too long since we had some juicy Island-related gossip and with Love Island season eight still a few months away, we weren’t expecting any new revelations for a while yet. Winner of season five (and our hearts) Amber Gill had some other ideas for us though—as she just revealed that she and Greg actually broke up before the Love Island finale *gasp*!

If you didn’t see season five of Love Island (boy, did you miss out) Amber was a fan favorite but was met with heartache during her time in the Villa after Michael Griffiths recoupled with Joanna Chimonides upon his return from Casa Amor, leaving Amber single.

The fall-out that ensued has gone down as one of the most memorable moments in Love Island history but thankfully Amber wasn't sad for long—partly thanks to a certain Irish rugby player.

Enter Greg O'Shea, a true Love Island heartthrob. He came in and won Amber’s heart and the pair went on to win the whole series, despite him only entering the villa in the final weeks.

It was a true whirlwind romance that ended over text just five weeks after the pair left the villa—but now Amber has revealed that they actually almost split for good just a day before the finale!

In an interview with Youtuber Murad Merali, Amber revealed that the pair actually had a huge fight that was never aired and called time on their relationship. (See minute 35.)

She explained: “So like a day before the final, me and Greg had the biggest bust-up you could ever imagine. We didn’t want to know each other.”

She added that the fight was about something ‘ridiculous’ but that the pair said they were ‘done’ with each other and had to be separated by the producers.

Thankfully they did reconcile because they ‘really liked each other’ and of course ended up winning the entire season together. Despite giving us several adorable couples, there’s now only one Love Island couple still going strong from season eight, the show's runner-ups, Molly-Mae and Tommy Fury.

Right, we’re so ready for season eight now—bring on the new singletons!
