Did Maya Jama throw shade at Stormzy and Ben Simmons during her Love Island debut?

Maya's exes might have to skip Love Island altogether...

Maya Jama has finally graced our screens for the winter version of Love Island UK, looking fabulous as usual, and she may even have managed to throw in a little dig at her exes, Stormzy and Ben Simmons (here's how to watch Love Island UK if you need to catch up).

Like most Love Island fans, we were glued to our TVs as the presenter took over from Laura Withmore, and fans of the show have been unanimous on social media—she nailed her Love Island debut! One of the highlights though? A little shade throwing at her exes (right after Maya's insane Love Island outfits, of course. P.S.: we found her black dress).

It all happened after the islanders coupled up, while Maya was trying to comfort some of the contestants who were picked last. Attempting to make them feel better, Maya said: "It's not easy finding your soulmate... Trust me, I know."

Given Maya Jama's current relationship status, viewers immediately started saying that the comment was aimed at her exes (Stormzy and Ben Simmons, we're looking at you).

"Think Maya just had a little sly dig at stormzy #loveisland", one viewer wrote; while another said: "Nah not Maya Throwing shade at Stormzy and Ben!!! #LoveIsland".

More fans seemed to think this one was aimed straight at Stormzy.

"'Trust me I know' That Stormzy stray #LoveIsland", a third wrote; while another added: "Stormzy fighting the air rn when Maya said “trust me I know” #LoveIsland".

If you need a refresher on these two, Stormzy and Maya dated for three years, between 2016 and 2019. She's since dated NBA basketball player Ben Simmons (they broke up a few months ago) but Stormzy dedicated quite a few songs to his ex in his latest album, This is What I Mean, in what seemed like an attempt to get her back.

The two have been spotted together but Maya revealed she remains pretty single, so no luck yet for Stormz. And the worst part? He's actually a big fan of the show, having actually appeared on Love Island back in 2017, when he video-called some of the contestants.

So spare a thought for the artist—not only does he have his flaming hot ex throwing (probably well-deserved, sorry!) shade at him, but he may also have to miss out on his reality guilty pleasure...
