Kourtney Kardashian was at the Oscars 2022—and we're confused too

Did we miss Kourt's nomination?

The Oscars 2022 was full of surprises—from dazzling, dramatic gowns to an onstage altercation between Will Smith and Chris Rock—the night was, to say the least, a bit bizarre. Especially when a certain reality couple rocked up on the red carpet, prompting many fans to ask—um just why exactly are Travis Barker and Kourtney Kardashian at the Oscars 2022?

Now the KarJenner clan are no strangers to red carpets, but the Oscars are usually reserved for actors and those involved with the competing movies of that year.

The appearance of the PDA-loving pair, therefore, left many fans questioning how they had landed an invite—especially when the likes of Rachel Zegler, the star of best picture-nominated West Side Story, hadn’t originally made the cut.

It turns out there was actually a valid reason why the soon to be Mr and Mrs Barker were in attendance…

Why were Travis Barker and Kourtney Kardashian at the Oscars 2022?

In true Kourtney and Travis fashion, they walked the red carpet, locking lips at every opportunity, both repping the punk-rocker look. Kourt wore a figure-hugging black gown, with furry trim and her hair slicked back. While Travis opted for a black suit and matching sunnies.

Despite looking the part, viewers were understandably puzzled to see the couple at the awards show, when several other big names had seemingly been missed off the guest list…

One tweeted: “You're telling me Kourtney and Travis got invited to the oscars, but @rachelzegler didn't? The star of one of the best picture nominees? What?”

While another commented: “tell me why kourtney is at the oscars”

“I’m honestly confused about the whole #RachelZegler non-invitation when people like Nicky Hilton and Kourtney Kardashian got invited. Does that make any sense at all??? #Oscar”

Another viewer added: "okay why would Oscars invite Kourtney and Travis but not Richard Madden? that man is in town"

Despite all the confusion, there was actually a good reason for them to be there. Travis was invited to perform in the ‘All-Star Band’ at the ceremony, alongside Robert Glasper, Sheila E and music director Adam Blackstone—with fiancée Kourtney there as his plus-one to support him.

It wasn’t just their attendance that sparked speculation though. Fans also took to Twitter to theorise about whether Kourtney is pregnant after the star revealed they were trying for a baby through IVF in the Kardashian's new Hulu show.

Viewers were claiming that she was maybe showing a baby bump on the red carpet—but regardless of whether she is or isn’t pregnant, we should all be a bit past commenting on women’s bodies now...
