Wait, is Laura Dern in 'The White Lotus' season 2?
We don't see the iconic actress onscreen but fans are convinced a Laura Dern 'The White Lotus' cameo is in our future
Laura Dern, The White Lotus star?
The Oscar-winning actress (Marriage Story, Little Women) has already had a busy fall, what with her popping up in Taylor Swift's music video for "Bejeweled" and starring opposite Hugh Jackman in the family drama The Son, but did Dern make a little time in her schedule to check into The White Lotus season 2? Here's what we know.
*Warning: spoilers ahead!*
Is Laura Dern in 'The White Lotus' season 2?
Yes, if you were wondering why Dominic Di Grasso's (Michael Imperioli) estranged wife sounded familiar during that heated phone call in the season two premiere of The White Lotus, it's because she was voiced by none other than Laura Dern.
It's actually not too much of a surprise that Dern would sneak into the cast of The White Lotus season 2—the HBO hit was created, written and directed by Mike White, who previously co-created the HBO series Enlightened that Dern famously starred in as Amy Jellicoe, winning a Golden Globe Award for the role in 2012.
"I think it's such a brilliant show and what he's made is incredible," the actress told Entertainment Tonight about her previous collaborator and her The White Lotus cameo. "I just love his brain and so all he had to do was ask and I was happy to be part of it."
Even though we haven't seen Dern onscreen thus far during the Sicily-set second season—the final episode of The White Lotus season 2 airs on Sunday, December 11—her character Abby is an important one.
Dominic, his son Albie (Adam DiMarco) and his father Bert (F. Murray Abraham) are visiting Italy on a family vacation, one which Abby is pointedly not attending because she caught her husband cheating yet again. Though he says he's remorseful for his actions, Dominic becomes entangled with two Italian sex workers at The White Lotus hotel, Mia (Beatrice Grannò) and Lucia (Simona Tabasco), the latter with whom Albie also becomes romantic.
Add to the mess a pimp who is hounding the girls for money and needless to say, the Di Grasso men are in quite a pickle. Will Laura Dern come to save the day in the grand finale? You'll have to watch to find out!
