We love a new hair trend, especially when they’re being tried and tested by our favorite a-listers. We’ve seen Miley Cyrus make the wolf-cut go viral, while Billie Eilish brought us the octopus hair trend, and now we’re being introduced to the 'Bixie.'

What is the ‘Bixie’ you ask? Well, you take a choppy Pixie cut and a bob hairstyle, mix them together and you get the ‘Bixie.’ The new edgy look can currently be spotted on celebrities like Florence Pugh and most recently, Euphoria’s Alexa Demie debuted the drastic cut.

It definitely gives 90s Winona Ryder and a hint of Princess Diana—both style icons in their own right, which just makes this new hair trend all the more appealing.

If you’re needing a major change to your look, the Bixie could be a real breath of fresh air. While the length might seem a little terrifying if you’ve never really cut your hair above your shoulders, just think how fast washing your hair will become! Not to mention all the ways you can style this trend!

How to style the 'Bixie'

As Faye Riley, hairstylist at Doll HQ explains, the Bixie is perfect no matter your age or style preferences because there are just so many ways to wear it. As Riley notes: "It’s ideal for women who want to cut their hair shorter but aren’t ready for the commitment of a super short pixie cut. The perfect in-between style!"

To achieve the look, Riley says there's a mixture of, "shorter, layered pieces of hair at the front, whilst keeping it longer in the back."

When it comes to styling, this cut suits every hair type and style as you can go, "slick, straight and polished, or relaxed, loose and curly."

Riley also adds that once it starts to grow out, you'll be left with a gorgeous—very on-trend bob. Long-term, it's very low maintenance and basically gives you two hair cuts in one!

How celebrities are wearing the 'Bixie'

The cut is very versatile—unlike the shorter Pixie—and allows you to have a bit more length, which means there are far more options for styling. Take Kelly Rowland for example, who has also just jumped on the trend and showed- off a dreamy, curly Bixie.

You can also slick it back like Demie, for a sophisticated and very elevated look. This would be ideal for a date or night out. Or you can go the tousled, spikey, retro route like Florence pugh, who has also incorporated the platinum blonde trend into the look—we’re totally obsessed.

It even looks cute just tucked behind your ears with your front pieces of hair loose—Like Emma Corrin!

As you can see it’s the perfect chic cool-girl look and could be very liberating if you, like us, spend what feels like half your life drying and styling your longer hair.
