Will Kim Cattrall come back to Sex and the City? Will the inimitable Samantha Jones ever grace our TV screens again?
Now that the And Just Like That documentary and finale have hit HBO Max, everyone is curious if Carrie and the girls will take another walk around New York in their Manolos—preferably with Samantha at their side.
Should And Just Like That season 2 get the green light—which fans hope will be a "less woke" sophomore installment—it seems Sarah Jessica Parker has some thoughts about her estranged cast member reprising her famous role.

Will Kim Cattrall come back to the 'SATC' franchise?
According to Sarah Jessica Parker, as well as And Just Like That's executive producer, writer and director Michael Patrick King, Cattrall is likely gone from the franchise for good.
In respective Variety interviews, they both dished on the actress' potential return, and fans might have a difficult time grappling with this upsetting (yet not entirely unexpected) news.
"The only place I participate in magical thinking is in fiction. You take people at their word, and you’re a smart producer—you don’t back yourself into a corner," King told Variety (opens in new tab). "Magically thinking, it’s great to have Samantha. I have no realistic expectation of Kim Cattrall ever appearing again."
If this is the case, the show's head honchos must have some creative plans in the works. And Just Like that did focus on the separation of the girls' relationship—the friendship breakup we all dreaded—when Samantha chose to relocate to London upon Carrie's decision to remove her as a publicist.
However, there was a glimmer of hope. Although Samantha doesn't physically appear in the Sex and the City reboot, we catch text conversations she shares with Carrie. In the final episode, Carrie attempts to reconnect with Samantha when she finds herself in Paris.
Carrie: I'm in Paris, want to meet for a cocktail?
Samantha: How's tomorrow night?
Carrie: FABULOUS
Will the reboot's continuation actually make the unthinkable happen? Will the two meet?
SJP thinks it's unlikely—and she wouldn't feel comfortable with the return anyhow, per her Variety (opens in new tab) interview.
"I don’t think I would, because I think there’s just too much public history of feelings on her part that she’s shared,” the actress told the outlet. “I haven’t participated in or read articles, although people are inclined to let me know.”
In our minds and hearts, however, the now-trio will always be a quartet.
