We're no strangers to the baby braids trend. Back in the early 2000s, everyone from Beyoncé to Gwen Stefani was rocking them, while tools like the Crazy Braid were all the rage. So, we're definitely not mad about the revival that it's been enjoying this year.

The easy, face-framing style has been everywhere this summer, with various ways of wearing it no matter your hair texture taking social media by storm. We've personally seen a lot of people get extra creative with cute braided hairstyles on TikTok, using everything from beads and jewels to colourful elastic bands to add an extra "something" to the style.

As with many trending beauty looks it's also been super popular with celebrities, with the likes of Hailey Bieber, Bella Hadid, Halle Bailey and Margot Robbie all getting involved with sporting the chic style. And while festival season may be over for the year, it's an easy way to elevate your look for any occasion.

Our favorite thing about this look, though? It's that, as 2022 hair trends go, it's a super easy one to do without a professional stylist and still achieve chic results. After styling your hair as desired with a centre part, you simply section off two equal-sized parts of hair at the front of your head and then braid as you like to get the look. To that end, we've rounded up some of the key baby braids looks to inspire you to get plaiting this party season. Drum roll, please...

Baby braids hairstyle ideas to inspire your next 'do

1. Hailey Bieber

Seeing as she's forever setting trends like glazed donut nails, it's hardly surprising that Hailey Bieber has sported baby braids on more than one occasion—and in this particular snap, she's actually doubled up on the plaits.

Paired with a bucket hat, this is the ultimate 90s-meets-Y2K look.

2. Rihanna

Our forever fave Rihanna is no stranger to serving beauty looks, and her all-black 'fit and baby braids ensemble was everything.

Though she's now given birth to her first child, this was a key Rihanna pregnancy style moment for us.

3. Margot Robbie

Margot Robbie made baby braids a red carpet moment at Cannes Film Festival 2021 with this effortless and undone style by her go-to hair stylist Bryce Scarlett.

The partially-done style really draws attention to Margot's eyes.

4. Jennifer Lopez

JLo is no stranger to a noughties hair trend, and sported her baby braids with a high slicked-back bun that perfectly showed off her bone structure—created, of course, by her longtime hairdresser Chris Appleton.

5. Halle Bailey

We're kinda obsessed with this bubble ponytail on the live action Little Mermaid star Halle Bailey, which is complete with face-framing baby braids.

You could argue that this is two styles for the price of one!

6. Gigi Hadid

Modern day supermodel Gigi Hadid combines two styles here for her face-framing look—baby braids and bubble braids.

Adding these to our hairstyle inspiration Pinterest boards immediately.

7. Dua Lipa

Dua's face framing baby braids are also found throughout her dark brunette tresses for a unique take on tiny plaits.

Fun fact: Dua actually shares a hairstylist with both JLo and Kim Kardashian, Chris Appleton, whose handiwork has already been featured in this round-up.

8. Zoë Kravitz

Modern muse Zoë Kravitz sported baby braids on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon back in March, paired with an on-trend sleek updo. We love.

9. Perrie Edwards

Girlband Little Mix may be on hiatus, but its former members' beauty looks certainly aren't going anywhere any time soon.

This throwback style featuring baby braids from Perrie Edwards is the perfect accompaniment to her brushed-up brows and pink eyeshadow look.
