Break-up reports have been swirling around Jennifer Lopez and Alex Rodriguez for several months now, with the A-list couple having to walk back rumors multiple times that they had ended their two-year engagement. Now they have officially confirmed that it’s over.
“J-Rod” is no more, for real this time. The singer and baseball star released a joint statement to Today, which said: “We have realized we are better as friends and look forward to remaining so. We will continue to work together and support each other on our shared businesses and projects.”
The statement continued: “We wish the best for each other and one another’s children. Out of respect for them, the only other comment we have to say is thank you to everyone who has sent kind words and support.”

A-Rod looks to be taking the break-up hard. He posted a video to his Instagram stories yesterday, which panned over framed pictures of the couple to the sad tones of Coldplay's Fix You. We've all been there – a good ol’ breakup song always helps.
The power couple got engaged in 2019 in the Bahamas after two years of dating but had to cancel their wedding twice due to the Covid-19 pandemic. They previously denied rumors that they had split this March, and released a statement saying they were “working through things”.
Rumors started up again this week after eagle-eyed fans spotted JLo was not wearing her engagement ring in one of her recent Instagram posts.
JLo captioned her post: “Keep calm and work on the weekend ✨.” Fans flocked to comment on the photo about the missing ring on that finger.
One said: “Engagement ring gone😕”
Another wrote: “Where’s your ring????”
A third commented: “LO why aren’t you wearing your ring? What's going on?”
A source told People that the split has “been a long time coming” despite the pair trying to work through their issues and prioritize their relationship.
This was Lopez’s fifth engagement – she was previously engaged to waiter-turned-actor Ojani Noa, actor and choreographer Cris Judd, actor-director Ben Affleck (remember that iconic, huge pink ring?) and singer Marc Anthony. Three of those engagements ended in marriage and two, to Affleck and now Rodriguez, ended before the wedding.
