TikTok is a goldmine for virtually everything: cleaning hacks and Bridgerton challenges to skincare products and make-up trends. Now we're even getting TikTok sleep hacks

Struggling with how to get better sleep is a problem we can all relate to—we all know the hassle of a night spent tossing and turning and how there’s nothing more annoying than knowing your eight hours are becoming less and less through no fault of your own.

Fear not, as Dr. Jess Andrade may have the answer. In a TikTok video that now has over 2.4 million likes and 180,000 shares, Dr. Andrade says the key to falling asleep quickly is wearing socks to bed.

In her TikTok, Dr. Andrade (@doctorjesss) says: “Wearing socks makes the feet warm and this opens up the blood vessels that cools the body down. The body being cool tells the brain that it’s time for bed so actually people that wear socks tend to fall asleep faster.”

This revelation was hit with mixed reviews. One user has been vindicated, saying: “Not everyone in my life telling me I’m a psychopath for wearing socks to bed.” Another simply said: “I cannot sleep without my socks.”

Another sock fan said: “I wear socks 24/7 and I’m always tired. Now it makes sense.”

Others were less than convinced, saying they couldn’t think of anything worse than wearing socks to bed. One said: “Why does it feel illegal to wear socks to bed?” while another said they simply “refuse to believe this is true."

Despite the mixed reviews, there are several studies that support this claim. So if you need more convincing before pulling on those knit knee-highs tonight, Dr. Andrade also posted a link to a 2007 study from the National Library of Medicine. The study says: “Changes in skin temperature may causally affect the ability to initiate and maintain sleep.” So yank up those hose and snooze well!
