'Tis the season for sweaters, pumpkin spice, and warm-hued strands. Enter the Touch of Toffee trend sweeping Instagram. This transitional summer-to-fall style is making the rounds, and it should certainly be a consideration the next time you find yourself at the salon.

When perusing through #toffeehair and its 7,000+ posts, you'll notice how the warm brown shade complements both light and dark hair. It's simple, chic, and not overly dramatic. It's the perfect subtle touch to welcome autumn.

A Touch of Toffee on Instagram

"The trend works well with both pale and dark skin tones, making it extremely versatile," according to the hair and aesthetics specialists Vera Clinic. "The toffee trend is even approved by the queen herself, J Lo, who recently shared pics of her luscious locks to Instagram!"

As we've previously mentioned—particularly when we started swooning over the liquid hair social media trend—if it's good enough for J Lo, it's good enough for us. Speaking of liquid hair, the super-shiny 'do pairs nicely with little toffee-inspired strands. Just sayin'!

"Whether you go full-on toffee, toffee highlights, or caramel balayage, this trend is set to stay throughout fall and into the new year," the experts at Vera Clinic add.

Since this will likely inspire a few new purchases to welcome the cold weather, we recommend you also consider updating your beauty bag with the OPI fall 2021 swatches, deep moody shades that'll take you from day to night.

"Think dark autumnal tones like forest green and midnight blue plus nostalgic pastels and metallics that transcend seasons," OPI says on Instagram of its new permanent colors.

If you ask us, forest green and toffee is the ideal autumnal combo, though we're never one to say no to midnight blue, either. If you need us, we'll be booking an appointment with our colorist and reaching for the flannels in the closet.
