After a barrage of emotional material, fans are asking, "Does Marah die in Firefly Lane?"

Season 2 picks up with the unfathomable friendship breakup between Kate (Sarah Chalke) and Tully (Katherine Heigl), and it appears Kate's young daughter (played by Yael Yurman) is the one who changed the dynamic. However, Kristin Hannah's readers might not have expected what has unfolded on screen.

When we asked "What did Tully do to Kate," at the end of the first season, those who are familiar with the book assumed the riff was a result of an embarrassing segment on Tully's talk show with Kate and Marah. Netflix, however, took a few liberties with the story's direction, and things get very intense.

Does Marah die in 'Firefly Lane'?

No, Marah does not die in Firefly Lane, but a frightening experience led viewers to believe it was entirely plausible.

After Johnny returns from Iraq, Kate is nursing him back to health and ships her teen off to Tully for a weekend...even though Marah's grounded. Being the fun, cool Aunt Tully, the TV journalist allows her niece to leave the house for a night out, despite her mother's wishes—only if she promises to be home by 10pm.

Marah pulls a fast one on Tully and actually ends up a frat party. When Marah's in jeopardy, she calls Tully—who's had a few drinks—to pick her up. That's when they end up in a horrific car crash.

"I think that trauma and that experience, she couldn’t get past the fact that Tully didn’t listen and just went and did what she wanted to do," actor Sarah Chalke told Deadline about her character's anger. "Kate wants to forgive her so badly and she wants the relationship back and she misses her and she thinks about her every day. She’s picking up a phone to call her every day but she can’t."

Although it was determined that the wreck was not Tully's fault, it still seems like Kate cannot move past what has happened.

"I wonder if it had been Kate, if it would have been a different story," Chalke admitted to Deadline. "I think it was the fact that it was Marah and that she did get hurt and I think not knowing what the outcome was going to be for her daughter [caused the rift]."

Although Marah ends up healing from the crash, other characters' fates are on the line in the series. Everyone asking, "Does Kate die in Firefly Lane?" knowing the outcome of the bestselling novel.

In her interview with Deadline, Chalke does not give much away about the show's ending, but she does guarantee tears will be headed our way.

"It’s gonna be really moving. Also so much humor and pain; it’s going to make you laugh, it’s going to make you cry. You are going to get answers to all of your questions that you’re left with. And I hope that you are going to love it," she said.
