The new moon, December 2022's last hoorah, will light up the night sky several days before the holidays and a few days after the winter solstice.
The December 2022 full moon at the beginning of the month was a bit triggering, but it forced us to keep an open mind. Now, the "logical" new moon in Capricorn, 2022's final new moon, is asking us to look ahead and take steps in a positive direction.
"Jupiter's influence on this new moon pushes us to take a confident leap and let the rest figure itself out as we go," says astrologer Noush. "To prepare, set some time aside to write down your resolutions and intentions for the new calendar year before Mercury stations retrograde later in the month."

New moon December 2022: what you need to know
- When: December 23, 2022
If you had been kind of confused about what move to take next, this lunar phase is here to help.
"The benefits of this new moon are that it gives us direction after what may have been quite a chaotic year for some," Noush says. "The things to watch out for on this new moon is that you may feel a little rushed or pushed into something without full preparation, however this may turn out to be a benefit."
It's go time, folks. What better energy can we ask for as we usher in a new year?
Who will be most affected by the new moon in Capricorn 2022?
Those with their inner planets at the early degrees of any sign may feel the new moon in Capricorn more than others, Noush says.
"Also anyone with planets in the Cardinal signs may feel it the most: Capricorn, Cancer, Aries and Libra."
How will the new moon in December 2022 affect each sign?

Now's the time to think ahead and make a few plans for what's ahead, something you tend to elude, Aries.
"Your fiery nature sometimes means you can take your eye off the long game," Price says. "You work best when you are spontaneous, but you can still put some care and attention into the future."
And if you're realistic about your timeline, it'll help you make things happen.
"Who do you want to be in three years? The more specific you can be, the better. This will allow you to break it down into smaller actionable chunks you can follow through on," Price says.
Now is the time to set intentions, Taurus, but don't rush to simply check this off your to-do list.
"When you do not have a purpose, you are left to be blown around by the winds of life," Price says. "Take time around the new moon to set intentions of what you wish the next 28 days to bring you."
Make sure you're true to yourself because you won't get anywhere with lackluster intent.
"This lunar phase reminds you that if you have wishy-washy choices, you get wishy-washy results. End this year just as you mean to start the next one—with intention," Price adds.
Patience is a virtue, Gemini...even though it might not feel like it.
"Remember, any challenges sent your way are tests, not punishments," Price reminds us. "Rise to the challenge by keeping patient. Rome was not built in a day, and most of the significant issues in your life right now will not be resolved overnight. Be patient with yourself for not having all the answers just yet."
Take a cue from the sixth planet from the sun, dear Cancer.
"You will be receiving a much-needed boost from Saturn during the new moon, meaning you will be craving freedom and excitement more than ever," Price reveals. "Follow your urges and allow yourself to experience pleasure in its purest forms. Your inner child is bursting to come to the surface right now, so let them rise."
Tap into your creativity, Leo, whether it's through writing, painting, singing or any other form of self expression.
"Not only will it add to your positivity, but it will also produce new and better results that will surprise you," Price insists. "You will feel very rejuvenated and optimistic around the new moon, and you will be riding a creative high. Don't let this creativity go to waste."
"Pay attention to your finances, make conscious decisions regarding your financial health and find it multiplies," Price says. "Make sure you remain open to receiving; if you do not, you will only block the good things trying to connect with you."
What better time to get money matters organized than the new year? These expert-backed financial wellness tips can be of service for you, Virgo.
Go big or go home, Libra. And if you go home, make sure to think big while in your sanctuary, too.
"Throw yourself into everything, both personal and professional," Price says. "Whatever it is, do it with style and meaning to see the best results, and this effort should be applied to all you do around this time."
You're being pulled in a lot of different directions, Scorpio, so now's the time to clear things up.
"Be more selective about where you put your energy, time and finance," Price recommends. "To get better results, invest your head space into something that brings you more joy and clarity."
If things feel a bit off, it's likely that you'll have to readjust a few things, but there's no need to panic.
"The Universe is not working against you—it is simply highlighting that you are focusing on the wrong things," Price says.
Breathe a sigh of relief, Sagittarius. Everything will start to fall into place.
"Expect a wave of energy and productivity," Price says. "Many of you will have been feeling in a rut lately, and the new moon will clear this by providing you with clarity and peace of mind."
He continues, "Enjoy this moment of clarity and use it to remind yourself of all the good in your life. It is never a wrong time to practice gratitude."
If you were debating whether or not to trust your gut, this lunation speaks volumes.
"Over the past six months, you may have found that you have totally lost a sense of connection to your intuition, but there is still time to reconnect," Price insists. "Your intuition will be speaking loudly on this, and it will be correct, so do not ignore it."
Taking a risk isn't such a bad idea, especially during this moon phase.
"You do not thrive in your comfort zone, so let go of worry and know that if you leap," Price warns Aquarius. "The net will appear to catch you."
He continues, "Look within when you may need extra strength. It already resides within you. Only you know what is best for you right now, so don't be scared to make bold decisions and take a chance."
Right now it's all about strength for you, Pisces.
"You know who you are and what is important to you, so do not let others step over your boundaries and keep grounded," Price warns. "The vulnerability you have been feeling is not a weakness to be wished away, but a burst of strength during the New Moon will be welcome and just in time."
