It's official, folks—we'll be reuniting with the Pogues once again for Outer Banks season 4!

Just as fans were bracing themselves for the release of Outer Banks season 3—which will pick up on Thursday, February 23, right where we left our gang of teenaged treasure hunters, marooned on a secluded island—Chase Stokes, Madelyn Cline and rest of the cast announced that the fourth season was officially on the way during a Poguelandia fan event on February 18.

The reveal understandably left the OBX fandom pretty beside themselves, as the fourth-season pick-up was confirmed before its predecessor has even aired! So it's safe to assume that Netflix and the OBX show's creators have a lot more in store for us.

So, while you regain composure after this exciting announcement, here's all the intel we have on the show's future: when does Outer Banks season 4 come out and which cast members can we expect to see return?

'Outer Banks' season 4: what we know

The Outer Banks cast let slip the joyous news during a fan event for season 3, at Huntington Beach, California.

The actors, including Rudy Pankow, Austin North and Drew Starkey,  took to the stage and attempted to quieten the excited crowd to share a "little announcement" before they all then exclaimed that the show was returning for a fourth season.

Outer Banks co-creators Jonas Pate, Josh Pate and Shannon Burke then issued a joint statement on the announcement, as per Variety (opens in new tab): "Seeing Poguelandia come to life was nothing short of spectacular. The Pogues are enjoying an adventure of a lifetime and we now get to map out more twists and turns as the joyride continues into Season 4 of Outer Banks. Thank you to Netflix, our cast and the amazing fans who helped to make this happen.”

We're already making a Pinterest board for all the new Outer Banks outfits we'll see in season 4!

Is there an 'Outer Banks' season 4 release date?

As of yet, there's no official release date for Outer Banks season 4—but before you groan, the third installment premieres on Thursday, February 23, so you still have ten whole episodes to binge-watch in the meantime.

Plus, now there's no anxious wait to find out if there will be another season following whatever cliffhanger we're left on with season 3—thank you, Netflix! We'd imagine there won't be a huge wait time between the installments though, as there were just seven months between seasons 2 and 3.

Who will be part of the 'Outer Banks' season 4 cast?

Of course, we'll have to wait and see how things unfold in Outer Banks season 3, especially since our gaggle of Pogues seems to face mortal danger on the daily! But we'd imagine all the main cast will reprise their roles—many of whom were actually present for the next season announcement.

Cast members likely to return for Outer Banks season 4 include:

  • Chase Stokes (John B)
  • Madelyn Cline (Sarah)
  • Madison Bailey (Kiara)
  • Jonathan Daviss (Pope)
  • Rudy Pankow (JJ)
  • Carlacia Grant (Cleo)
  • Drew Starkey (Rafe)
  • Charles Esten (Ward)
  • Austin North (Topper)

What will 'Outer Banks' season 4 be about?

There are also no hints on the plot as of yet, which is unsurprising since the third season is also currently a big question mark.

All we know so far is the Pogues are stranded on an island, following that daring escape from Ward Cameron on a cargo ship in the season 2 finale, and that—spoiler alert!—John B's long-presumed-dead father is actually alive!

We can assume, though, that the quest to claim the treasure will continue but will season 3 finally spell the end of the road for our villains, Ward and Rafe? Time will tell!
