The 'Salted Granola' aesthetic is TikTok's latest style obsession, joining the likes of the 'Coastal Cowgirl' to dominate your capsule wardrobe this summer. But what does this latest fashion vibe entail, exactly?

Honestly, we swear the names of these TikTok 'aesthetics' just get more and more extra by the day. Now, replacing the likes of 'Vanilla Girl' and 'Coastal Grandmother'—which dominated the 2022 fashion trends—comes a new, even more beachy and outdoorsy look that is altogether more casual, dubbed the 'Salted Granola' trend.

And while this new term doesn't actually describe a savory type of cereal, it does try to encapsulate the vibe of early summer mornings, spent eating granola, with your hair still tousled and salty from a day previously spent on the beach with your outfit consisting of just shorts, a tee and your trusty pair of converse. Here's a full investigation into the new trend sweeping TikTok...

What is the 'Salted Granola girl' trend?

So, what on earth is the 'Salted Granola' trend?

Well, from what we can tell from the fashion TikTok hole we spiraled into, it definitely has nothing to do with food but everything to do with days spent on the beach in a bikini, flowy skirt and bucket hat, hiking in your fave nylon shorts, wearing your Birkenstock Bostons religiously and eating homemade granola every morning at 7am, because you wanted to catch the sunrise. Get the picture?

It's a very un-bothered, beachy style seemingly coined by user @saltedgranola, centered around comfort and practicality as opposed to the latest style trend—and it already has 7 million views to its hashtag. Think beachy, skater and outdoorsy all rolled into one style aesthetic and you've pretty much got the gist—it's the ultimate summer or vacation uniform for anyone wanting to really embrace summer this year and kinda gives us Outer Banks outfit vibes.

The pieces we've spotted cropping up the most are denim and nylon shorts in greens, reds and browns, wide-leg linen trousers, oversized t-shirts with cool graphics (often depicting the great outdoors), tank tops, bucket hats and caps and cozy fleeces. Sneakers are also a must, from Adidas Sambas to worn Converse trainers and slip-on Birkenstocks. As for accessories, TikTokers have been pairing their fits with beaded necklaces and bracelets, along with simple earrings and rings.

The look gives a nonchalant cool, with some users comparing it to some of Emma Chamberlain's outfits—with her love of hoodies and Dickies trousers.

Your 'Salted Granola' fashion checklist...

So, if you're looking to build your own Salted Granola wardrobe, you'll require the following; tank tops, cotton t-shirts, linen trousers, denim shorts, a hat, a cozy hoodie or fleece, a tote bag and some cute jewelry—like silver huggie earrings and some beaded necklaces.

This graphic tee is a great option for that Salted Granola vibe. We'd recommend sizing up, so you can wear it as a T-shirt dress over a bikini or with shorts.

ZARA TRF High Rise Denim Shorts

RRP: $39.90

These denim distressed shorts are another must-have for your granola summer styling! They feature a high waist shape, a mid-blue washed effect and are available in waist sizes 25 to 32.

Urban Outfitters Green Beaded Bracelet Set

RRP: $25

This set of four green bracelets is the perfect summer accessory, whether you're planning to embody the granola aesthetic or not.

'Salted Granola' aesthetic makeup

The Salted Granola aesthetic is really more style-focused, makeup-wise it's all pretty minimal. All you need is one of the best sunscreens for your face, perhaps a non-comedogenic tinted moisturizer and a lip oil (we'd recommend the Gisou lip oil!).

The vibes are more about embracing summer, so adapt your makeup routine for whatever works best in the heat and sunshine.

'Salted Granola' perfumes

As for which of the best perfumes to opt for to complete your Salted Granola persona, floral perfumes and vanilla fragrances are a good way to go or scents that smell a bit like sunscreen.

We'd also recommend something a bit lighter like a fragrance mist as some perfumes in the sun can be a no-go, plus they're easy to chuck into your everyday tote bag or in your vacation suitcase!

Maison Margiela ’REPLICA’ Beach Walk

With fresh and salty notes of bergamot, pink pepper, lemon, heliotrope and coconut milk, this scent is the ultimate coastal perfume!

This scent is also another summer must-have, thanks to its fresh and green notes of citron, jasmine and teakwood.
