When is the summer solstice?
Our cosmic calendars and June horoscope indicate positivity ahead, particularly thanks to the summer solstice 2022. No need to tell us twice!
"It’s a nice time to realign your energetic body to a more balanced state," says Noush, an astrologer at Girl and Her Moon. (opens in new tab)
The event not only marks the longest day of the year, but the start of Cancer season for those who are celestially connected. We'll be balancing the sun's bold Leo energy and attempting to harmonize it with the delicate Cancer femininity.
The best advice? Be open to any shifts from the universe and soak up the sun. Nothing will remain stagnant at this time.
"Enjoy that fire solar energy vitality that the sun brings, but also spend time in a more peaceful state in under the rays of the sun or nature," Noush suggests.
But in true astrological fashion, a few signs will feel the event's effects more so than others, for various reasons. Allow us to fill you in and what to expect during this exciting time.
When is the summer solstice?
Mark your calendars (gifts astrology fans go crazy for, by the way). The summer solstice takes place on June 21, 2022. Typically in late June, the event all depends on when the sun reaches that northernmost point from the equator, according to Farmer's Almanac (opens in new tab), meaning the date is likely to change from year to year. However, they're never entirely far apart from one another.
Who will be most affected by the summer solstice?
On a universal note, the summer solstice is a time to realize and celebrate the transformations you've made from the cold-weather months. There's a positive, creative ambiance that asks us to look at our goals for the latter half of the year.
However, when taking this particular astrological happening into consideration, it's clear that the water signs and earth signs are likely to feel the solstice's potency a bit more than others.
"On the day of the solstice, we have Venus making a trine to Pluto in earth signs, so there’s something really comforting about that energy," Noush says. "It can help you realize the journey of transformation from the winter because we have Pluto in the final degrees of Capricorn."
It'll be a good time to reflect and appreciate how far you've come. (Perhaps you'll want to look into tips about journaling for beginners to harness that energy.) Whether the signs are dealing with relationships, connections, skills, you name it, they'll be able to face that vulnerability.
"Pluto is all about that internal strength and underlying power that helps you overcome any kind of challenge or realize the resilience that you hold within your soul to move through adversity," Noush says. "Coupled with that, that sun energy is kind of being proud of who you are, taking pride in your journey and taking pride in the way that your soul has evolved."
The Cancer season mentality
The positive summer solstice coincides with the feminine cancer season, a time in which you should slow down and focus on yourself. (Self-care day ideas, anyone?) It's all about staying true to your idea of "home" and nurturing your body and those around you.
"How are we showing up for those around us? How are we really setting up these foundations for ourselves. Are we over-giving? Are we draining ourselves? It's about filling up your own cup before giving to others first," numerologist and astrologer Kaitlyn Kaerhart (opens in new tab) says of this significant time.
More importantly than anything else, whether you're looking at the seasons or astrological seasons, it's about the way in which you move forward and journey you take towards that proper path.
Summer is always a highly-anticipated time of year, and now we're ready to embrace whatever it has in store for us astrologically. Find a beach towel, grab the SPF and soak up all of the positivity and good energy we have to look forward to. We'll see you on the beach.
