Bridgerton's Regé-Jean Page has captured the hearts of viewers around the world and now some people have even suggested he might make the perfect James Bond. The star, who plays the wealthy Simon Basset, Duke of Hastings in the Netflix hit period drama, has already teased heartbreak for his character and Daphne Bridgerton (played by Phoebe Dynevor) in the show.

He’s one of the central members of the Bridgerton cast, so it seems pretty certain that if there is to be a Bridgerton Season 2, Regé-Jean Page will be returning to our screens.

Many of us are already looking for shows like Bridgerton to keep us going until then. So it’s perhaps no surprise that some people are also thinking about what other projects Page could star in now. And top of the list seems to be him playing James Bond.

Now the Bridgerton actor has opened up about the exciting rumours...

Will Regé-Jean Page play James Bond?

Following his huge success in Bridgerton, rumours have been circulating suggesting Regé-Jean Page has been tipped to play the infamous James Bond

Speaking to Jimmy Fallon on The Tonight Show, Page finally addressed the exciting speculation. He said: “I think the internet thinks a lot of things, and that’s one of the more pleasant ones."

Downplaying the suggestion, he explained: “If you’re a Brit, and you do something of any kind of renowned that people regard well, then people start saying the ‘B’ word”, seemingly referring to the iconic character’s surname, Bond.

"It's like a merit badge, like the 'B' word merit badge," he added.

The Bridgerton star supposedly went on to tell Fallon: "I'm very, very glad to have the badge. I'm glad to be in such wonderful company of people who have the badge. But it's a badge".

Betting site Ladbrokes has been reported as offering odds of 5/1 that Page will become the next 007. He's competing against other huge stars including Tom Hardy and Idris Elba, who have also been rumoured to be in line to replace James Bond’s current actor Daniel Craig.

We might not yet know which, if any of them, will be stepping into this iconic role. However, whether or not we get to see Regé-Jean Page become the infamous spy, we can at least hope for Netflix to announce another season of Bridgerton very soon.

Who knows what the future could hold for Regé-Jean Page or his Bridgerton character?
