It looks like we're returning to Nevermore after all, as Wednesday season 2 is officially a go and we won't be the only ones making a comeback...

When Jenna Ortega stepped into the iconic role for Wednesday, Netflix and Tim Burton's remake, fans instantly fell in love with Gen Z's spin on the creepy, kooky heroine—and it showed. Wednesday broke all types of streaming records for Netflix, even surpassing Stranger Things season 4, so it kind of seemed like a given that the story would continue.

However, fans became a bit panicked. After such massive success, everyone thought it was rather odd (even by an Addams' standards) that the streamer was keeping quiet on any subsequent installments. Fans frantically asked, "Is Wednesday canceled?" but thankfully, our minds were swiftly put at ease once and for all, as Netflix finally confirmed a season 2.

Alas, since then both Netlfix and Wednesday's showrunners are keeping very tight-lipped on what's in store for us during our next semester at Nevermore—though we did just learn that a former love interest would be making his return...here's all the latest news on Wednesday season 2.

Is 'Wednesday' season 2 happening?

She's back! On Friday, January 6, Netflix revealed that our "favorite pig-tailed Goth" will return to Netflix for season 2. Cold hearts everywhere just got a bit warmer. No word yet on release dates, though, so we'll have to be patient!

Although we were a bit on edge about the show's fate, we were comforted before Netflix's announcement knowing that showrunners Alfred Gough and Miles Millar were sharing future plans for our leading lady.

In an interview with Variety, Millar said, "For us, it’s always looking at the future, and when we sit down to create a show, it’s looking at multiple seasons, ideally. That’s never expected, but that’s the anticipation that hopefully, the show is successful. So you always lay out at least three or four seasons’ worth of potential storylines for the characters."

Which cast members will return for 'Wednesday' season 2?

While sadly we won't see Gwendoline Christie reprise her role as Principle Weems (she suffered a terrible fate in the debut season), the rest of the cast will likely return, including the entire Addams clan and all of Wednesday's Nevermore peers, including:

  • Jenna Ortega as Wednesday (of course!)
  • Percy Hynes White as Xavier
  • Emma Myers as Enid Sinclair
  • Luis Guzmán as Gomaz Addams
  • Catherine Zeta-Jones as Morticia Addams
  • Isaac Ordonez as Pugsley Addams
  • Fred Armisen as Uncle Fester
  • Joy Sunday as Bianca Barclay
  • Georgie Farmer as Ajax Pertroplus
  • Naomi J Ogawa as Yoko Tanaka
  • Jamie McShane as Sheriff Donovan Galpin

Will Tyler be in 'Wednesday' season 2?

Gough and Miller previously hinted at Tyler Galpin (a.k.a. Hunter Doohan) making a return at some point. We last saw him chained up in the back of an armored police van being driven away, catching just a glimpse of him transforming into his Hyde form.

Gough teased Variety, "Yeah. Absolutely. He’s out there. That’s what we wanted to convey." So if you're team Wednesday and Tyler, there's still hope...kinda.

Now Hunter Doohan has also confirmed that he will indeed be reprising his role and hinted that the inner conflict has only just begun for his "hyde" counterpart, Tyler...

He told Entertainment Tonight: "Coming back. Can't really say anything else besides that, but I'm so excited to go back."

Before leaving us with the tiniest of hints for next season, saying: "Tyler's secret is out of the bag, I'm excited for season 2 to kind of explore him fighting between the monster and the real version of him. He doesn't have his master, Christina Ricci, anymore, so what's he gonna be like? I don't know." Eek!

What will 'Wednesday' season 2 be about?

As of yet, there are no clues about the next storyline, though it is likely Tyler could make a dramatic return.

We could also see more developments in Bianca's (Joy Sunday) story after we saw her strike a deal with her siren mother, Gabrielle, to help recruit more followers to the church cult, Morning Song, in order to finish the school year at Nevermore. This could imply that Gabrielle is a contender for season 2's main villain.

The Addams family themselves could also provide some intrigue to season 2, as many fans have been theorizing about Lurch—whose appearance in the finale has sparked some conspiracies. Either way, if season one is anything to go by, we'll all be glued to our screens!

Season one of Wednesday is now streaming on Netflix. While you wait for season 2, marathon movies and shows like Wednesday to keep you busy.
