When was Bling Empire: New York filmed, exactly?

No sooner did we hear rumors about the buzz-worthy Bling Empire spin-off, it seemed as if Netflix was already hard at work bringing the glam (and drama) to life.

The series follows reality TV alumna and LA darling Dorothy Wang, who packed her bags and ventured cross-country to start anew. Though she got her start on The Rich Kids of Beverly Hills and the original Bling Empire (which was also filmed in California), she had to break it to producers that she was in a New York state of mind.

"Eventually, I told them I was moving to New York. The producers lit up and they were like, 'Oh my god, we want to do a franchise in New York. You could do the spin-off,'" Wang told Interview. "You could introduce us to your real-life friends and you can have a hand in molding and shaping it a little bit more."

Now, she's reunited with friend Tina Leung and has been introduced to the rest of the Bling Empire: New York cast, including Nam Laks, Blake Abbie, Stephen Hung and his wife Deborah Hung, with whom Wang got off to a rocky start. So, when did it all begin? We'll fill you in on everything you need to know.

When was 'Bling Empire: New York' filmed?

Bling Empire: New York began filming in early 2022 and production is said to have wrapped in May of last year.

In an interview with The Wrap, Wang recalls the day of her move and the first day of filming coincided with one another. Talk about a stressful day!

"I moved on January 15 [of 2022]. That’s the first day we started filming Bling Empire: New York, so it’s my one-year anniversary," she told the outlet during the series' January 20, 2023 premiere.

"I was actually surprised that my first winter here I was able to survive just in my LA clothes," Wang further revealed. "Now that I’m more of a seasoned New York vet, I’m actually wearing a beanie and layering."

Where was 'Bling Empire: New York' filmed?

Although the show is primarily East Coast-based, that doesn't mean its cast isn't busy globetrotting—quite the opposite, actually. In the debut season, along with New York City, we also venture across the pond to London and Paris. You may recall a heated Bahamas getaway—one that made us ask "are Richard and Vika still together?"—and a Miami outing as well. Oh, and then there was a quick trip on the Long Island Expressway over to Montauk

According to Netflix, Bling Empire: New York follows "the challenges and triumphs of a group of wealthy socialites, tastemakers and entrepreneurs who strive for Asian excellence." We get to experience ups and downs, career wins, love, heartbreak and everything in between. Let's not forget the drama!

Although there's no word yet on Bling Empire: New York season 2, you can rest assured that viewers are happily tuning into the adventures of Dorothy & co, as the show has officially made its way into the "Netflix Top 10."

Bling Empire: New York is now streaming on Netflix.
