It's officially awards show 2021 season, folks, and one of the biggest, brightest nights of the whole stretch is happening this Sunday—Golden Globes 2021, which airs from 8pm to 11pm EST on NBC. The star-studded affair will celebrate some of the most popular and critically-loved movies and TV shows of the past year, and given how much couch-potato time we've all been doing lately, we're pretty up to date on the nominees. (If you need a little refresher or some binge guidance, check out these 20 awards season movies to catch up on.)

This year's nominee crop is an exciting one, with several double nominees (Anya Taylor-Joy, Sacha Baron Cohen), first-time entrants (hooray for Elle Fanning and Daniel Levy!), and a history-making three female directors in the Best Director - Motion Picture category. And as always, there were plenty of surprises (Emily in Paris) and snubs (Michaela Coel's I May Destroy You).

One thing that was not a surprise, however, was Netflix's sheer domination of the nominee list—the streaming juggernaut netted 22 film nominations and 20 in the TV categories. (Alas, none for Bridgerton, though.) Streaming offerings in general did well across the board, with several nominations each for properties from Disney Plus, HBOMax and Hulu.

In addition to the competitive categories, the Golden Globes will honor the eternally fabulous Jane Fonda with the Cecil B. DeMille Award, as well as iconic sitcom writer-producer Norman Lear (All in the Family, The Jeffersons) with the Carol Burnett Award.

So whether you're planning on watching the Golden Globes 2021 live—with our favorite funny gals, Tina Fey and Amy Poehler, returning for the fourth time to co-host the broadcast, which will air from 8pm to 11pm EST on NBC—or are simply looking for something good to watch this weekend, take a look at the list of this year's illustrious nominees below:
